This is another great chapter.I agree Ben would not have escaped on his own. I do not see any room for improvement.I am looking forward to the next chapter. Have a blessed day.

You mention that Ben was "ecstatic" twice, which really stands out in a single chapter like this. Maybe "overjoyed" in one of those places?

I'm a little unclear on what you mean here: "He did know, however, that the chapel had an outside wall, a wall that served as wall to the prison." Wouldn't any wall in the prison lead to the outside world, or are you talking about a separate wall around the perimeter of the prison, not part of the building? Wouldn't that be true of any wall in the prison, not just the chapel? I read it three times and am still confused.

I agree that Ben would not have chosen to escape. God works in mysterious ways, but I don't think a bombing that kills and knocks people unconscious is how he'd choose to set him free. Besides, he hasn't done enough yet inside the prison!

Sorry I'm late reading this; it's been a busy week and I have a ton waiting in my inbox:-)

Have a great weekend!

    Thank you for catching up.
I would suppose that there are many walls within a prison that are mere dividers, not perimeter walls. For example, the chapel could have been totally inside the prison.
The bomb was between the piano and the wall. I injured some, but didn't kill any. I agree, Ben could have ministered more inside the prison, though.
    Thank you again.

This was an unexpected turn of events. I'm sure Ben would not have escaped on his own. I had expected an appeal might have come through for him. This makes the story even more interesting.

I was just settled in with the idea that Ben had been placed where he needed to be. Now, he is without a fare thee well, plucked out and removed, and toted elsewhere. Karen

Oh no! But if Ben was carried out, it would look like he was guilty of the explosion plan. How will his witness as a believer be viewed if he ran away from his sentence? But perhaps those who repented from his preaching, will see it as an act of God.

I agree; it does not look good. And I fear that it will weigh heavily on Ben's consciousness.

Well, as we can say about almost everything, we just never know. Would Ben have escaped or not without help? But it was the Lord's will that he live, then there was nothing else could have changed that. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your kind review.
Escape was definitely not in Ben's plan. Might be why God had to knock him out. (smiley face here)

This is an interesting chapter. The prisoners really did want to hear what Ben had to say about God. Then Ben made a jail break without knowing it, so he can't be executed on Saturday.

Wow. This was an exciting chapter. Pretty clever plan by the inmates effecting the escape. Congrats to Tom Thumb too for having the wits to take advantage of the situation and escape along with Ben.

Now let's just hope Ben takes advantage of his freedom and uses his smarts to take steps to reverse his sentence and not do something dumb like go back to the prison.

Hah! Another reviewer wants Ben to do the right thing and turn himself in (to be hung in one day). Others want a huge miracle to exonerate him immediately. I believe in miracles, and Ben has experienced many, but I think a story loses credibility if life is all candy and roses.
Thank you for your sensical review.

What a build-up of excitement in this chapter, Wayne! Ben's position in the chapel will be welcome but trouble was afoot, a planned escape and now Ben finds himself unintentionally and unconsciously part of it. One small edit - "Ben('s) being made chaplain... (I don't think you need the apostrophe and 's') And I was a bit surprised by the inmates having mallets in the kitchen. But this is excellent writing. Well done! Debbie

Thank you. You are the 2nd to mention the mallets. Do you think they would just get boiled, skin-on taters?

I don't know but, immediately, I was a little taken aback that they might have a 'weapon' like this.. (think it's my Probation background)

I might rewrite that part. Thank you.

Glory be, Ben has won the preacher's position in the chapel, but they are planning something else, and it looks like they may work out how they are going succeed in what they are doing, God will sort it out, well done, blessings Roy
