A gripping and outstanding piece of writing! The story was one I could not stop reading as I sometimes do. And the surprise ending was wonderful and welcome. Very rarely do I read something with no dialogue and like it this much. I saw absolutely nothing I would change except for the omission of one comma (after "getting out" early in the story--I didn't think that comma was necessary).
Great writing and I'll watch for more.

Judith,
Thanks so much for your six star review. Note also your point about the comma. There will be more stories based around this story. Take care and have a wonderful day.

Ouch! I wonder where poor JIm had to take the hit. I like the line "getting out is harder and more important than getting in". My mind lingered on that awhile.
Barry, this is pretty darn good!

The description of the way he was waiting for the moment was very well described. I like sugar in my coffee as well. Great twist in the ending "Why kill a good man?".

This was an interesting story--I followed it to the end. I was a little surprised to find the Middle English word "whilst" in a modern day story that included Armani suits and telescopic rifles. That seemed to be the only hiccup in the whole read. Still, it is very well-written and delight to read.
Best wishes.

This well thought out story is filled with mystery and suspense. It leads the reader to want the protagonist to be successful, while hoping the victim escapes being killed. The story has a very satisfying ending. Especially notable is how smoothly the shooter's backstory is woven into the story. Additionally, it is a pleasure to read without being interrupted with punction, grammar, and spelling errors. Well done.

I don't give six stars unless I feel they are deserved. Your story definitely deserves six stars. The suspense holds from the beginning until the end of the story. Great writing. I enjoyed it very much.

Hi Barry, this was a very well written piece, with a surprise ending. So he had a change of heart at the very last minute. What we don't know is whether he will now be on the run from whoever hired him to do the killing.
A great story. Ulla:)))

Wow, Barry, this is fabulous! Very well-written and suspenseful. The assassin's last minute change was really quite a surprise. It seems he drew the line somewhere.
Sending you my best today as always, and best wishes for your writing endeavors.

An excellent bit of storytelling. Totally believable and great pacing. You have a knack of making the reader feel he is there, witnessing every movement and moment. Far be it from me to offer advice to a superior writer, but I was just wondering...With a few adjustments, this could have been set in the Book Depository and the shooting be a fictionalized account involving President Kennedy.

I was a bit doubtful about the direction of this particular story, but I was pleasantly surprised by the ending, but because I don't like stories about gratuities killing, so a man with a rifle, brings up a question or two, bur well done, a pleasant read, beautifully written, blessings Roy
