Hooray! The test run was a success! Now I wonder if it would work as well on a person who never did golf before or a person who was really entrenched in the wrong way to do a swing. I guess it would depend on how willing the person was to let the suit do its thing. Enjoyed your fun surprise on Abby to have the suit do those dance moves!

Helen, you guessed the subject of the next chapter! We'll get to see Claire try it out now.

If one could design something like this suit, it would be a great fillip to sport in general, it could be designed to iron out technical faults in so many sporting persuasions, but it would be so hard to, there are still so many sporting methods changed, for instance in our own football code, they have adopted kicking methods incorporating aerodynamics, beautifully written Jim, blessings Roy

I think you're right, Roy. If it can get Abby to dance the "Hustle," I'm sure it could be programmed for other sports too. And when techniques change, it just needs a software upgrade--a version 2.0.

Yep, that?s right
Comment from JSD
The dancing was hilarious! In a way it probably is worth doing that the first time every time someone new uses it as it would train the body to give into the control of the suit. Was that your idea? I expect to see that incorporated into the next episode! Otherwise a lovely feeling of success here. Triumphant!

No, I didn't actually think of that, but it's probably a good idea. We'll get to see Claire's experience with it for the first time next.
Comment from Jay Squires
This was a fine chapter to both instill some humor and also to show that such a novel experiment isn't likely to come of perfectly without a hitch.
Alright, that was really special. E.J., how long did it take you to program all those dance steps into the suit?" [That's hilarious!]
I'll be anxious to see the progression of the invention. I'm also trying to imagine what you're going to devise (fairly soon) to create some tension with high enough stakes that something important can be lost. I'm just starting to sense that need. Do you know what I mean?

Thanks, Jay. I do know what you mean concerning the tension around the suit. It will come in stages, though, one of which you are familiar with already having read Some Call It Luck. The real question, which the boys will ask soon after they return to 2032 is "Whatever happened to the suit?" and we won't find that out for a little ways into Part 4, so we'll have to wait about 40 pages for that.
Comment from Carol Hillebrenner
Teaching the suit to dance was a sweet interlude. When it came to the swings, I didn't understand what she was doing, but ultimately she learned not to argue with the suit. Very interesting.

Thanks, Carol. Abby was a good sport about it.
The part she described after that probably only golfers would understand. It's one of the finer points of the swing.
Comment from Tom Horonzy
The closing sentence of paragraph three might read better as a question, rather than a statement, like, "This will undoubtedly be hard at first, but that was your concept, wasn't it?"

I think you're right, Tom, and I will change it in my manuscript. Thanks for the suggestion.

Dear Jim, You must be dreading my review today, as I have just witnessed both Solheim and Ryder Cups: that we won the Solheim was a miracle - and the Ryder hinged on the first four matches, before the US team were really match fit. I can 'do the math'! and see that if the foursomes on Friday had been 2-2, you would have retained it. Am I glad Europe won? You don't really need to ask.
Your review, sir: it gets better all the time, Jim. I really think you're getting the hang of this writing thing! Nice description all the way through of your new invention - fine detail is the assessment and diagnostics, which I appreciated.
Abby is a good 'guinea pig' in that she is articulate enough to explain in detail the pros and cons of the suit. So we are left in no doubt as to its efficacy, and your great work looks like being a total success. But, knowing you, I am ready for some serious problems in the near future!
Look forward to the next installment - and New York in 2025!

Yes, the results were disappointing, but I think the better team won this year. I have great respect for the European team and know most of those players quite well from seeing all of them play. They are quality players and quality individuals. I didn't follow the Solheim Cup at all, so I don't know much about that.
Thanks for your very kind words about the story. There will definitely be some blips in store for the suit, and it may be a while until we find out its eventual fate.

Thanks Jim. I had a friend who played for England in the early Solheim Cup matches. Went to one at Wentworth back in the day. Saw her hole a 200 yard iron shot for an eagle - exciting!

So the suit can teach the technical aspects of golf. You have to love technology. Is this something that exists or something you are dreaming of? Someone should grab the patent.

To my knowledge, nothing like it exists, perhaps because it's totally impractical? I don't know, but it would be great if someone could make one someday. I think they would make millions off it. So far, just a dream.

Nice Jim. This needs to be sent to all the 'hot-air' golf instructors we see online these days touting some kind of magical move that garners an extra 30-40 yards off the tee. As you have written, your suit offers to perform the swing fundamentals and with that comes success. You might enjoy my golf tips I've recently posted at www.crescentputtingtrainer.com Just comes down to the basics. Nice Chapter. What is the purpose of the B designation?

In the book, Chapter 36 was too long to present on FanStory, so I broke it up into 36A and 36B. I have to do that on some of the longer chapters because most folks don't like reading more than about 1,600 words in a posting. These were both around 1,200 words each.

Thank you for sharing this trial of Abby using this suit. I don't remember it in the first addition. I remember Claire being the first to use it. I could be wrong. I didn't see any way to improve this post.

You are correct. In the original version, I only mentioned that the design team had tried it first but didn't provide any detail about it. This part was newly written for this story. In the next posting, we'll witness Claire's first attempt with the suit which was also newly written for this story.
