Aww. That's a good message for the kids on Halloween. Maggie Ophelia is a good person and that's what people should know more than generalizing about what a witch is. Congratulations on your third place finish! Sorry I didn't see this when you first posted it!

Thank you Helen. I'm glad you like this. You didn't see it because FanStory promoted it. When I wrote it, I immediately made it inactive because it accidentally in the wrong contest.. Later I revived it but wasn't consider a new post so no one was notified.

This is an adorable poem. I especially like the name of the witch. Kids will love having it repeated because it is so catchy. Nice cadence and rhyme that kids (and the adults reading to them) will enjoy. Well done and congrats on a placing well in the contest.

Thank you for the review and comments. I so glad you like it. It is the second poem I've written about the witch with this name. I think I posted the other one last February. Here the worda to it.
Maggie Ophelia Belinda Malone
is a wise old witch who lives all alone.
In her crooked hut made of sticks and stone,
she makes her magic with a mojo bone.
She has a helper that?s a cross-eyed cat.
She flies using radar of a vampire bat.
Maggie will be wearing her witches? hat,
as she mixes potions in a cast-iron vat.
If you need a charm and you?re not afraid,
you must bring coins `cause she has to be paid,
or for mandrake roots you dig with a spade.
she might be willing to make you a trade.
She can cure your warts and your bad colds, too,
if you follow what she tells you to do.
But if you?re not polite when she gets through,
I wouldn?t advise you to drink her brew.

Thank you for sharing. This is great. It looks like you could have a series of kids' books.

I don't know why I wasn't notified of this, except that maybe it was for a blind contest.
I love this tale of Maggie Ophelia Belinda Maline, and I love her name! She reminds me of a Halloween-ish Santa Claus, flying through the air with her cat instead of her reindeer.
A terrific poem for the season and for children.

Thank you, Pam. I don't know why FanStory treated it like a repeat but it wasn't. No one was notified and it was never on page one until I promoted it. I do appreciate you review and so glad you liked it.

I love her name, Beth, much better than Winnie the Witch. The children will love this peom, the story is super nice, and the witch truly does look after the children, she is not at all wicked! Love it, my friend, and wish you the best of luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Thank you Sandra. I got this name from my mother's memory of when she was child. An old black lady had the first three names. I added the Malone. She and brother used to run around chanting the name because they liked the sound of it.

What a nice witch! Who says they have to be mean? I hope I see her and her kitty flying around on Halloween. I'll be handing out treats. Maybe toss one up to them along with a cat treat. Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you Cindy. I wanted her to be a nice witch because I didn't want to scare the kids so they'd be nervous to go trick or treating.

This poem, One Witch's Halloween, is a fun and cool children's poem especially for the Halloween season. Witches get a bad rap, but Samantha seemed nice.

Thank you for the review. Would you believe I got the name from a old black lady my mother knew about as a child. Only I added the Malone. Her last name was brown. My Mom said she and her little brother used to run around shouting her name because they liked the sound of it.

That reminds me of a black lady that worked for my grandmother but ended up being more of my nanny. Minnie Brown was her name. The last time I saw her I was eight years old.

This is a really fun children's poem, perfect for Halloween. I like that she's a good witch and has a friendly, non biting kitty.I love the rhyming, this will do well in the contest. Best of luck to you.
