This stunned me. So very powerful to see the links in the chain from thrown rock to...thrown rock! I'm reading this in October but truly find it hard to believe this study in consequences wasn't the winner!

It's a winner in my book!

Talk about sliding doors, it tells two stories, one that is and one that might have been. We probably don't know what would've happened if we'd turned left instead of right, yep, only speculation, but true, consequences are always the result of decision making, great story, blessings, Roy

LOL, Jim, you have created a new definition for what goes around, comes around. Very creative story. I have read some good entries for this contest, and this one is as creative as any I have seen, good work, and good luck. Terry.

Sorry I missed this for the contest, Jim. This is great and with a word of caution inside. Well done, my friend. A compelling, gripping write. I hope this did well in the vote. Sending you my best today as always,
Sal :))

Your story is quite a rollercoaster ride. I like how you provided the explanation for the rock throwing at the end of the story at least that's how I'm reading the story. I also like how you are showing the ripple effect that one incident can have through other people's lives.

What a chain of disasters, started with just one thrown rock. I always dreaded those rock-throwing boys - now that just proves me right! Best of luck in the competition - you write economically and well, and tell a great story. Just one thing... it STANK of old sweat.

Wow. Good thing this is a 'blind' contest. Any way that you can keep it anonymous if you win?
"Officer, all I did was say 'boo!'" and before I knew it half the town was dead.
Good luck in the contest.

This is a very interesting story you have penned, but it is very sad also. Sometimes like that happen, but I am thankful that didn't happen to any of my family members. Best wishes in the contest. Teri

This was a more imaginative spin on the opening line for this contest, I think you did a good job taking the line and running with it, bringing to light all the interconnected bad events that grew and spread from this one innocent moment of trying to scare a kid with a mask. It really digs a bit deeper than the scratch on the surface, and that's why I liked it. It shows that even what we think of as small things, can have a big effect on lives, and maybe many interconnected lives. It makes you stop and think. estory

Oh my goodness! I hope this is not a true tale. How heartbreaking for all involved. A good write which engaged me from beginning to end.

Life is full of misery and generational torment.

I wish you a wonderful life. Jacqueline

Not true. It came from my infinitesimal small brain.
