I enjoyed learning the names for Grandma in four countries. The narrator recalls the unconditional love Grandparents have for their grandchildren no matter how old.

Thanks Shari, since grandma is my favorite person to be, it was inevitable that I would feel the need to write one for all the grandmas here. You have grandkids don't you? If so what was your name? I look back and wish I had been called one of those cool ones, but I guess the important part was in the action and not the name. Thanks again my sweet friend!

I have two grandchildren. Alex will be twenty in July and in his third year of college. Anna will turn eighteen in August and start college. She calls me Grammy. He calls me Old Wise One! I wanted to be a favorite too, but my son and his wife spoil them, so forget that. LOL
-
I love it! My oldest turns twenty in July too!
How fun is that?

Debi, a very cleverly written poem. I was impressed by how you described the commonality of being a grandma, no matter where they may be. Your research into the names used in each country added to the poem. I also found it interesting that China didn't make the list. I thought maybe they didn't put out that data, or perhaps their strict control on family size in the past may have limited the number of grandmas. Excellent job. Terry.

Hahaha, China didn't make the list because I don't know of anyone from that ethnic group here, however I like your possible explanation even better. Yes, I remember hearing my whole life of their ways of controlling the population.
Amazing or barbaric? Thanks for the awesome comments Terry. And btw; thought you might find this interesting that the one who does come from an Oriental background, is the one with the Russian grandma name. Yet both parents are from Korea.

Miss Helen!

Just brilliant! Great idea to write a poem and use the different names as grandmothers are called. My grandmother was Nana to us.
Nana's not only providing love and fun and, in some cases, raising the grandchildren as my Nana did. It is heartwarming to see a wonderful children's poem dedicated to the grandmothers, whether you call her nana, granny, or baba.
Best wishes,
Mary

Thank you Mary for your very kind words for my grandma poem. I love your story about Nana. In fact, I always wished that I would've been called Nana. That's one of my favorite names for grandma and yours sounded lovely.
Thank you for sharing that with me and for your kind comments from a poem, I'm not sure where you are from or if you are age to have grand children of their own, but I would love to know more about you so thank you again and I hope I hear from you again soon. Thanks again my lovely friend .

I have no kids. We married a little late to start a family.

Good one, Debi. I always looked forward to the special cookies that my grandmother use to make. My favorite grandmother stories involve my mother with my two boys and their cousins. She was a bundle of energy and she had special events and games for the kids on all the holidays. She had a nursery school for many years. She loved young children.

Fantastic tribute to all the grandma's around the world. I'm married to a proud and loving "Grammy" as the kids call her.
Next month for the first time in nearly five years, we'll have all the grandkids under our roof (parents too). And we can't wait... Grammy heaven as I've been teasing her.
Your expressions of all the little things grandmas do put a smile on my face.
Thanks for writing and sharing.

Thanks s so much John for the lovely comments about this Grandma poem I just now came from cleaning it up a little. The meter was off but I think it looks good now. How appropriate that I would have Grammy in there and the kids. kids call your wife?, And you already know that my favorite thing in the whole world is having grand children. It is my cure all for everything good to hear from you because I need some information off of you. I am going to be favorite part about being grandpa is. I appreciate it very much. Thank you for the lovely review and we will talk to you when you give me that information.
John, I apologize for this mess of a thank you. I was doing it with the audio help and it screws things up so bad. Actually you almost got called a dumb ass, because I was getting so fed up with what it was doing that I said, stop you dumb ass, and it got printed. Lol.
Only two weeks before my first eye surgery so it is getting harder all the time, but it won't be long and it should be great. Please let me know what your grandbabes call you.
-
No problem, Debi. If you called me a dumb-ass, I know I would?ve laughed because it was probably by mistake, or you said it in a comical way?
My grandkids call me, Poppa.
Our oldest granddaughter, Aiden, started it and I left it at that. I love it.
-
Lol... ok is is spelled papa or poppa? My granddaughter used to call my dad, papa pick.
-
I go Poppa.
Papa pick? that?s cool.
-
What year did you graduate?
I have a storyI am posting at midnight called, June 1, 1973
-
I just read it and sent a review? 1972

Great rhyming children's poem. Thank you. Just a couple of suggestions if you will, for the sake of flow:
Third stanza, third line - reverse "is always" to "always is" for flow.
Next to the last stanza, last two lines needs work. The flow is awkward but really cute ideas. Perhaps choose different rhyming words or leave out that stanza.

Thank you Robert, I knew exactly where you were talking about and what I needed to do. I added that extra stanza as a favor to my friend and she had way too many things that she wanted me to put in there and I knew that I needed to cut that, so I'm glad you said something. It always makes it easier when somebody brings it to my attention whenever I feel uncomfortable with something so thank you again check it out and I think you will see it sounds much bette thank you. r I appreciate your kind review and comments very much. Thank you my friend.

Great writing! Any child, when reading this, will not hesitate to smile as, I'm sure, fond memories of being with grandma will be recalled to mind. What a joyful read this poem is!

Oh Barb, I can explain. It was a blind contest and it just now got over so that is why my name must be on it all of a sudden. You are so sweet and now I got a complaint from the man department so guess what the next one will be? So you picked yourself out in that. Believe me I thought of all my favorite people and you are one. I was hoping I didn't have to come looking for you. Lol... thanks so much for the kind comments, my sweet friend.
