Dear poet, you deserve a 6,
but I ran out of them. So a
6th star from Heaven. I was
also mostly verbally bullied
from elementary school through high school. I wasn't
ever a beauty, and both boys
and girls would call me ugly,
a dog, etc. I was physically
roughed up once by another
girl in middle school. So I
definitely can commiserate.
I intervened once to help a
14 year old boy at my
neighborhood pool & racquet
club. I was in the parking lot
close to the front gate. The
tall wooden gate was closed.
I heard smacking sounds and
this young boy crying. I ran
next door and knocked loudly
on the door which was the
boy's home. His mother
answered right away and I
stammered out, "Your son
is being bullied!" She and I
dashed through the gate for
her son. I thought it was just
maybe two teenage boy
bullies. But, sadly, Bill, the
pool manager who was also
one of the lifeguards, was
passively present when this
poor boy was being abused.
His mother screamed at
Bill, when she turned away
from him, she thanked me,
and her son and she walked
the short distance to their
home. I was so disappointed
in Bill, who was a first year
medical student. I believe he
was fired immediately, it was
late August. The boy's mother
wanted the HOA to hire an
early morning lifeguard so I
could swim about an hour
before the pool club opened
for everyone else, but the
HOA said they couldn't find
any lifeguards willing to come
to the pool club at 7:30 a.m.
I appreciated the boy's mother's kind gesture.
Anyway, bullying is such a
common blight on the face
of humanity. I'm so sorry for
what you and your family
members went through with
bullies. I'm 65 years old, but
I remember what I went
through, and was more than
happy I was able to help
that poor young boy all
those years ago when I was
a teenager. You have penned
this work on bullying
quite exemplary. My very
best wishes, and thank you
for writing this important
work. Blessings ~

Thank you so much! I actually recently found one of my 4th grade bullies on Facebook. She has found God and she is a nurse, so she is doing a kindness to humanity, so I choose to forgive her for the way she treated me. I am 52 and can still see her and hear her bullying me in the bathroom after school. When I was teaching, I always took the time to talk to the students that lashed out in what seemed to be an unreasonable way. I knew those were usually the ones being bullied.

I was the same in High School, the tiniest boy there, and wore funny glasses. They found me every day. What a wonderfully written poem.

Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

Thank you for sharing and reviewing. They do always seem to find us, don't they? I actually just reconnected on facebook with a girl that bullied me mercilessly in 4th grade. I have decided to forgive her and let it go, as she has now found the Lord and is a nurse, so since she is being a good person now, I choose to let go of what she did then.
