You were tornadic in this piece. A Tilt-a-Whirl going full speed ahead, not that it has any choice. I don't think that ride had a reverse. Still, the imaginative used in this piece was turning back the pages of time.

Ben returns to the story in part B.

Well, I think I just read the winning entry!!!! Super creative and spellbinding from word one until the last one. I love it. Not only well-written, but so easy for all of our 'child inside' to identify with on whatever basis works for each of us. Love it and good luck. ann

My wife says that you're gonna give the big head! And she'll just have to pop it again.

Great story, Wayne; I was a kid who walked around being the bravest, prettiest, and smartest kid in the school and projects in my own stories.
A kid by the name of Sylvester has a challenge right out of the gate. Perfectly told and truly an enjoyable read from beginning to end.
Best wishes in the contest.

Shucks... a kid named Sylvester, a baseball MVP with a fingertip touching hook slide who instantly becomes a superhero! What a life!
Great story, Wayne. I could've kept on reading to see how he saves mankind!
Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you for your very nice review.
And thank you for the six stars!

This story was totally captivating. I could easily relate to Sylvester as he sat at his computer hearing his mother call, and thinking of the things he wished he had the nerve to say. That scene took me back to my childhood. I enjoyed the account of Sylvester's choices for outside entertainment. You put me in the scene. But, my exhilaration on the baseball field warrants six stars. When Marine Corps One came for Sylvester (in his story), your descriptions allowed me to see it and feel it. I only wish this story was longer. Best wishes in the contest.

I think you captured the essence of a teenager and his mom. I liked the intertwining of the story in Sylvester's head and his family life. I do not see any room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

Wow! I had to glance down to make sure I had another six while I was still in the baseball scene!
I went into a hook slide, dodged the tag and caught the plate with my fingertips! I was the MVP of the series! [This was some good writing, right down to the hook-slide and catching the plate with your fingertips. Very good!]
One more contest it would be foolhardy for me to enter!

I enjoyed this peak into a young boy's imagination. When I was a kid, I was always making up stories in my head when we took the forty mile drive to the city and other time when I was bored. Of course, I was always the main character and my stories were usually westerns. I was big into westerns when growing up. Good luck in the contest.

LOL, Wayne, I don't do blind contests anymore...sorry about that. But you have a good story, and what could be more fun than an active imagination and being a baseball hero and superagent? Indulging in this guilty pleasure is very fun. I think Sly and Ohmie could be buddies who have adventures. Excellent work, Thank you for entering the contest. Terry.

A captivating story! I enjoyed it a lot. It was imaginative and probably quite relatable to many families and kids these days. If it's a teeny bit autobiographical, that's fine too. Everyone wishes they could be a hero at one time or another. Old and young and in between! Very best wishes for the contest.
