Well, I don't know how I missed this, but I'm glad I stumbled across it and didn't not read it altogether. You're in one of those moods this month, and I'm sure Debbie has certainly been touched by your posts, and I'm sure many of those like me have been too. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest!

Thank you.
I didn't think about being in a mood. Maybe looking for Spring?

No, I think it's more about being thankful! And it sounds like you have good reason. :-)

Wayne,
You have really captured a lot of the thoughts we old folk experience when we ponder about the future. It IS best to get all the business stuff taken car of in advance so as not to overburden an executor. I liked that you left it unedited as part of your tribute to your wife's skills. Well done.

Wayne, this is so incredibly beautiful, and really, really well written. Your conversational style is excellent, and almost had me in tears. I'm hoping that you have people in your life who are the receivers of your kind heart and deep soul. Thank you. zinnia

A beautiful read and I am glad to know that it is not just my husband and I who discuss such matters.
A wonderful read; detailed. This is so important in life, to let others know what you want for them after you pass. Your prose displayed a deep level of emotion, care and wit.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

Thank you. (smiley face here)
Another reviewer called it morbid, shocked that I would hand it to my wife for editing.
One, we talked before 'handing' it to her. Two that reviewer was vastly outnumbered by those like you and I.
thank you for your great review.

My pleasure. My husband and I have already decided that if one goes before the other we will be cremated and made into a diamond. That diamond will then be made into a piece of jewellery which will never be removed. I found my soul mate 22 years ago and never want to be apart from him. It came as quite a surprise as I was 25 and he was 49. We were so besotted by each other's non physical characteristics that after he proposed a mere 50 days after meeting we had to ask each other's birthdates. Haha.
Have a wonderful day with your lovely wife. You truly understand each other. Jacqueline

This is a beautiful after death love letter outlining everything the surviving spouse should remember to do. This isn't just an entertaining story. Couples should actually sit and talk about things to consider should one partner depart. Thanks for this reminder.

What a lovely post. I think it is good to put things in writing well ahead of the "event", as I am sure it helps those who live on, to cope and manage well, be reminded of your humour and wit. And the depth of love shows through beautifully.

That's a sweet note and I especially liked "Our love has never depended on Hallmark." And you're right about how death puts all our material stuff into perspective. Happy Valentine's Day to you and Debbie!

Wayne, this is really an exceptional narrative, spoken from the grave, right?
I was a little confused at first (not hard to do, trust me) but once I got into the flow, I was all in.
Cheers to having the I.C.E.

Thank you.
Yes, it could be confusing since I spoke as if it was me, and then what I would do if she went first.
Thank you for your kind words.

Wayne, this damn near made me cry. The paragraph where you tell Debbie to marry again if she finds someone who makes her happy was so unselfish and speaks of true love.
I don't have a set of directions like this in case my husband goes first, but I can imagine it would be so much easier to have a guideline than to have to figure it all out in real time.
This is a fantastic piece (smiley face here).

I read your review aloud to Debbie. We laughed out loud at you closing!
Thank you.
And thank you loads for the six stars!

I find this so morbid and tragic for valentine's day. How can you bear to preview your death like that if you're not a melancholic person? And what does your wife think of it all? (as you say she edits all your stuff, I assume she saw this). kay

We enjoy all aspects of life together. I didn't even think about it being Valentine's Day when I handed it to her. (Though I did give her a handmade Valentine at breakfast.)
We talked about stuff noted in the piece for an hour, never considering it morbid.
Thanks again for the review.
