What a beautiful poem. This was written so beautifully and your words flowed together in such an awesome way. I loved the repetition about don't let these events define you. That really hit home and made me think of events in my life too. This was such a lovely read and I really enjoyed it. Thank y for sharing.

I'm interested how you approached Jesus regarding this issue. I asked Him why he let it happen. I asked him where he was while I was being abused. He said, He couldn't about it, but I was never alone. He was there all of the time. Some might find that an unsatisfactory answer, but it made sense to me. I could go on but this is enough. If you want to discuss more, I'm here.

Beautiful work. So heartfelt and meaningful. And poetically very strong. Solid rhyming and meter and the repeating couplet with the twist at the very end was clever. Debi, where do you find the energy and ideas to write so many good poems?!

Oh Charles, you are just so sweet! Like you were from Minnesota Nice, blizzard, freezing cold country! So how many inches did Champlin get?
We were at 14 at news time. The grandkids sure got a vacation out of it this yr, as they had 2 snow days before vacation started and now today. So they've been out of school since the 21st. Doesn't look promising for tomorrow either.
Thank you my dear friend for the very kind comments and gracious gift of six stars. It truly means the world to me!

-A beautiful image and beautiful poem to go with it, Debi.
-If you had written much more, I would be crying.
-I don't know if you wrote this without tears, but I admire you for sharing parts of your life that were difficult, but did wrote it in such a beautiful way. I felt like God was speaking to you through your heart.
-I love the refrains you added after each verse, and then they changed to the positive when God said:
"I'm thankful you let me back into your life
You found love, [jpy] and laughter, not evil and strife"
-You end the poem very well,
"Another New Year; your life's fresh as the rain,"
followed by the refrain.
-An excellent poem deserving of a win in the contest,
but from what you expressed here, you have already won, my friend.

Oh Pam, I have won because of friends like you in our second family. I know God led me here cause I ask him every morning to let me be a blessing to others, and he fooled me because I am the one being blessed! I have never been this happy. And it's because of you all! I just love you to pieces and that is from holding inside for so long.It feels so good that I can finally be who God meant me to be. I know I am a bit over emotional but it's my breakthrough! So I made a promise to tell people how I feel. God is great. He gave me you! (.Hugs) I thank you so very much for your lovely review and kind words for my poem. And also for your gift of six stars! You have no idea how much the whole package means to me!
It's so appreciated, my dear friend! And now you know what you mean to me too! (one more hug) Big Smile too!

You are very welcome and deserving of the stars and review, Debi. I am glad you are happy, and that it felt good to express your feelings. Many times it is a cathartic experience. Your hugs, smiles, and friendship mean a lot to me, too. Have a great day and wonderful New Year!!!

Knowing what I know now about you, I found this poem comforting. I am so happy that you can look at life differently. Of course, the pain and memory of what happened will never go away but it doesn't come between you and God and you and your living family. Beautifully written. Gretchen
