Love shared through old stories is a nice bonding experience. Well thought out. Nicely written. Good mix of narration and dialogue. And it's a true story, wonderful. Good picture.
Congratulations on the blue ribbon winnings.

Thank you for reviewing some of my recent writing. My aunt lived to be 103, and I still called her Grandma.

How lucky you were to have such a wonderful aunt to take on the role of your grandmother. I too never had a grandmother I could call my own as both were gone while my parents were still teenagers. I could feel your pain and your joy in your story. Wishing you the best in the contest!

This is such a sweet story. What a beautiful Grandma Grace and Grandpa Claude. Your story flowed well. The dialogue felt real, and I enjoyed reading the story.

Awwwww, this is a beautiful story and I enjoyed reading it because it was a story about someone who was empathetic to someone. We need so much more of that today. People are not as empathetic as they used to be when I was growing up as a child. I also like this story because it is just a simple story about love and kindness. It was very interesting and it wasn't too long. It was short and to the point, good story, thank you.

Hello author, a heartwarming story. I was raised by my grandmother, so I understand and know a grandma's love. Unfortunately, my mother died young. My children had a grandma for a few years, but my youngest only has vague memories of her. It was always a sad time when it was take your grandparents to school--mine had none. They were in nursery school. After the first year, I use to keep them home on that day. Your story is real and filled with high sensory appeal. I had a special aunt too, so I understand the connection. That one-on-one time makes a child feel so important and loved. The bond built is eternal.
Of special note:
I had a grandma of my own now, and I think she was happy to have someone call her Grandma.
(I'm sure she was happy to have you call her Grandma. You were a gift to each other and Uncle Claude too. You became a family within a family. Just beautiful.)
I love the photo. As this is a contest entry, I wish you good luck.

Thank you. That is the only photo of my uncle and aunt toegether. It was taken in 1953, so I would have been seven. I never forgot their kindness to a sad little girl.

I can relate to this. Although, I did know my grandma on my mother's side and spent one summer in Germany with my father's mother before she died, but I never had a grandpa. It's a beautiful story with a very well thought out reflection in the end.

What a sweet story. I always had a grandmother, so I never experienced your unique need. My grandmother had arthritis so bad that she was wheel-chair bound. We didn't do much together. I had more activity with my aunts and uncles, as did you, but I always had a grandmother to fall back on ... to be spoiled by.
"I was child ten of twelve, so by the time I came along," [Sounds like you're saying is that you "came along" at age 10 or 12.]
Good luck in the contest with your very touching story.

We never forget kindness bestowed upon us at any age, or realize the impression it will make on us throughout a lifetime. Thanks for sharing your fine story.
