Ciao poet, you now have three votes.
Before I got my first computer in Dec 2010, I didn't know poppies were worn to commemorate those that died fighting in a war.
We should definitely honour the fallen.
It is a shame our leaders don't work harder to avoid wars, bloodshed, and deaths.
Every year we remember those killed and every year the number of soldiers killed rises.

Not enough votes to place on the podium, but thanks for you support.

This poem, Remembering Our Fallen Heroes, reminds the readers to keep the date and join any event that honors the fallen who have gone where we sent them.

I was aware of the poem and the Flanders reference but not its full back story. Thanks for your review of my contest entry.

Your poem is beautiful, and I enjoyed the footnotes you wrote for us. I read In Flanders Field, which is a beautiful tribute to our fallen soldiers. I wish you worlds of luck in the contest.

Thanks for your kind review. We all wish that wars would not be fought so these tributes would be limited in the future.

Thank you for honoring our fallen heroes and soldiers with this poem. Also, I really got a lot out of the note that explained the reason for the emphasis on poppies and the reference to In Flanders Field. Well done.

Thank you for sharing this, mystery poet. I have a great uncle that died from wounds incurred in the First World War. He's buried in Georgia at our family's burial plot. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful poem and the symbolism of the poppy. Sending you my best today as always and my very best for the upcoming contests, Sally :))

We thank your great uncle?s service. My father lost his 18- year old first cousin in WW2 in 1944, shortly after D-Day.

This is a short to the point poem about Poppy Day. The text is a great size.
The message is clear. As a veteran my preference would be to not have days for remembering dead service members, but to totally stop having wars. I'm sure you feel the same. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for your service to us all. I wish a magic wand could eliminate the physical war and the rhetoric in words of too many of our current politicians.

Amen, me too. You are welcome.
