Hi Willie!
Wow this was amazing!!! Your poem was impeccable, vivid, and enjoyable. I can tell you put a lot of thought into this, and it really paid off!

The only critique I have for you is I think your piece could benefit from a little more imagery. The imagery you included was strong, and I think your poem could be even stronger if you included more imagery.

Thank you for sharing and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Best wishes,
Keely

Willie,
Great poem about America's original breed of rough and tumble guys. I hear there are a few excellent cow-girls in the US too.
Your perfect rhyme speaks of the hardships of cowboys, who work hard, get injured, and get right back on their horses! It's just the part of their jobs.
Excellent poem,
Willie.
Best wishes,
Cindy

-Nice artwork and presentation, Willie.
-You wrote a good poem with effective imagery and rhyme.
-You create a vivid word picture of the rodeo and the riders.
-I never understood why people want to do that, and
the animals have to be made up in order for them to do what they do.
-Then there's the poor calves that have to get tied in order to win.
-You address things like that when you say they don't want to give up
even if their health is at stake.
-Very good closing verses.

This is a great ode to the rodeo cowboy. I have watched bronc and steer riding and cannot even imagine the toll that takes on a body, not to mention the danger of serious injury or death. Your presentation is great, the rhythm and rhyming very good. I enjoyed it so much. Wonderful work!

What a lovely tribute to a very dangerous sport. And a great tribute to the Cowboy. May that legend last as well.
You have a fine poem here with good strong rhymes.
Well done sir!

Terrific Willie. Aust. is no stranger to rodeo, horses, steers and bulls. There is even a clown to get the animal away from the rider when he falls off. Yes, I can imagine many broken bones and crippled backs. On the cattle stations out west, many contests are had for fun with the men who drive the cattle. Our biggest station is a million hectares, now, that is big! K xx

This unmetered rhyme paints a colorful and realistic picture of the life and aftermath of a rabble rousing rodeo rider. I particularly liked the second stanza, which cleverly uses the image of the saddle to depict the condition of the rider's back. Nice work.

If you were to try to meter this poem, or make it a little more even, I would start with the adjacent lines that have the biggest syllable discrepancies, such as the following one, to even them out a little:

He kept getting on them critters. (8)
Again and again. (5)

However, the uneven cadence of the rhyme does mirror the nature of rodeo itself. Nice work overall.

I used to take my kids to the rodeo when they were young. It was fun family entertainment but I always hoped they wouldn't want to join the riders. They are tough to do what they do for as long as they can do it.

Well done Willie.
