What a beautiful story! Ms. Dixon sounds like an amazing teacher in a time period that had to be difficult for her. I love the last paragraph - I don't know whether to say she has the Midas touch or she's spreading the magic. Both seem fitting because everything she touches turns to gold and if you spend any time with her, you'll come under her spell. Great job!

(I remember that fondly because seventh grade me played Santa Claus.) This doesn't make sense. (I remember fondly playing Santa Claus in seventh grade.)
While other English classes were diagraming sentences, ours was reading (When the Legends Die) by Hal Borland. Because this is a book title it should be written ('When the Legends Die',) otherwise it runs into the previous sentence.
Great story, which is why I gave it a five. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing. Take care.

This is a really good story and brings back memories of my eighth grade teacher. I had two great teachers in my life. Mr. Clyde Swett was my eighth grade teacher, and Dr. Howard Eves was a math professor that I had in college. Both inspired me to become a teacher. Both taught me lessons in living a good life as well as academic lessons.
