This monkey has such a human face and your words made me smile as a makeup artist would surely be able to make him look even more human? A fun post Mark, love Dolly x

Dolly,
I once visited the Amazon Jungle and saw the monkeys, but the uakari was not seen. Possibly it was at the beauty parlor during my visit.

Dolly,
I got bored seeing the many caiman along the river banks. We fished for piranha, saw up close a panther and coatimundi, heard the forest sounds at sunrise and sunset, guide plucked a small caiman from the water - used a flashlight to determine it was not a big one, visited the local (female) witch doctor, and walked in the forest to swing from the vine but not quite like Tarzan! It was a fantastic 5 days in nature.
Best wishes for a happy, healthy holiday season. Stay safe.

You're contest entry was in great form, Mark.
I enjoyed reading it. Your syllable count was
correct per line with a message that was clear.
Well now, the little monkey can't help its looks.
You know what they say 'beauty's in the eye of
the beholder.' I know you are kidding else you
wouldnot have added the notes, right? Hmm,
wonder what it thought of humans.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

Jan,
I visited the Amazon Jungle once in my life. We saw lots of land and aquatic animals but no uakari monkeys! We did feed the monkeys with bananas! Rather than an outdoor shower, we bathed in the lagoon - our lodging and dining areas were built on a platform of huge logs - no AC! We did visit the local witch doctor. Sh served us a tea and promised a long life - so far it still works after 35+ years since our visit with HER!
Thanks for your review and comments.

OK this one made me laugh out loud! That face - I don't even think Sephora could improve it! But that is what makes her distinctively unique and beautiful in her own way. I liked this one.

June,
I have actually visited the Amazon Jungle once. We saw many monkeys and other land and aquatic creatures. This uakari did not face us - apparently it was in a makeup session (-;
Thanks for your nice review.

I literally laughed out loud when I saw the picture! It really looks like an app filter where you switch the face of two people in this case... actually I don't even know what you'd swap it with to get that! Hilarious 5-7-5. Definitely points for humour and points for originality! With a huge field of entrants (well I feel I've read hundreds!) I'm sure yours will stand out!! Best wishes!

Karyn,
Thanks! My wife and I visited once the Amazon Jungle. while we saw many land and aquatic creatures, the uakari monkey was not seen. Maybe it was in a makeup session.

You certainly wrote your haiku to match the photo, perfectly. Though I'm sure that monkey is supposed to look that way.
Best of luck in the contest with your entry.
Cheers, John

John,
Yes, that is the uakari?s real face.
Makeup will not improve its facial complexion. Nature, indeed, has created many colorful animals.

He looks mad with that red face!
This was well written rich in Theme and Imagery.
It also, read well and flowed well with no Grammar Issues.
Good luck with your contest Entry.

Thanks Doc!
Maybe it is the heat of the jungle that makes his face so red. Unaware if the female has such a red face.

Ciao Marco!
Having had a monkey pet from the New World, I was familiar with this red faced beast.
There are other members of this particular species that don't have the red face and have black faces and fur.
I enjoyed the creative humour.

Thanks for your review of this previous post. In a visit to the Amazon jungle years ago, I once had a monkey perched on my shoulder. The monkey then stole my whole bunch of bananas and probably laughed at me with his successful robbery.

I imagine this monkey looking in the mirror and thinking...."Too much blush?"
Likely beautiful to others of its species...agreed, at first glance, my unfamiliar human eyes startled!
*Sephora! I hope "she" has a gift card!
Chuckling here...

Uakari? Genus Cacajao? Rare South American primate...females chose their mate based on how read their face is?
Gosh, Mark! I've know this for...
Well, about ten minutes!
(I Googled before reviewing your poem)
LOL...
You got me!

LOL! Sephora to the rescue! I agree that this is an ugly monkey, but I also think there's beauty in ugliness. Haha. Your flow is good and message is clear. Great job!

Thanks Cristine!
You are correct: beauty is in the eye of the beholder. One reviewer said this monkey applied too much blush (-;
