Absolutely every set of siblings has had this conversation at one time or another. Indeed, I suspect most parents have made the statement you closed with it. Certainly, I did many times during my kids childhood's! Loved the story and congrats on the contest win! ann

This was adorable, and I can just picture the children as I read the dialogue, it was very true to life, why do siblings love to do that to each other.?

I come from a family of 12 so we often had conversations like this one. It wasn't hard to write because of that. Thank you for reading.

This sounds like a conversations siblings would have. Ruth is an optimistic person it seems . She interprets things in the most possible light. But, she will understand soon that she has misinterpretted everything her mother has said.
Congrats on placing third in the contest.

My sister and I used to lament that Mom like the other best. You know how it goes, you get in trouble for something and your sister doesn't, it's because Mom likes her best. Ha, ha. This was such a nice story, I never knew a brother and sister to talk so nicely to each other, but this made it seem real. Added plus, it was humorous, made me smile, and it had some good lessons embedded in the dialogue. Enjoyed it very much.

Hahahaha! I loved this -- it's simply too darn clever and cute, and very easy to 'imagine' these characters and this scene, even without the charming picture that accompanies it.
Congratulations on your win -- much deserved, IMO.

I think I've heard this conversation before. A.common and relatable sibling rivalry. It made me smile.

You've done a great job with this Dialogue Only Writing Contest. It is clear who the speakers are even without the narratives. The conversation between the brother and sister sounds realistic. Congratulations for placing third in the contest.

Thank you for reading and the six-stars. It is realistic because I grew up in a family of 12 and often heard conversations like this one. Hugs

Thank you. With seven brothers and four sisters I often heard conversations like this in our house. I may have contributed a few times. LOl. Hugs.

Haha! What a cute story! And, you're right, it sounds like a typical sibling conversation. Even similar to some I've heard from my own children. Why is it kids always believe their parents have a favorite? LOL
Anyway, great job. Good luck in the contest, and best wishes!

Thank you. I don't know. We were always fighting over who mom liked best. I think she just loved us all. Hugs.

Ruth has so much to learn. She is making the classic childish mistake of taking what an adult says literally. She is going to truly learn something when she is able to put into perspective the things her parents say. I suspect that her brother Roger already knows. He is trying to clue her in but, she is oblivious. I love this humorous story very much.
