Ciao !

I enjoyed reading your poem .. you used very description verbs ..

That said , instead of stoopid I would have put tasty ..

you still would have been disqualified but it made sense in regards to banana and the
committee might have caught on that you wrote line four with the ABAB sequence.

I agree if it was suppose to be AA BB who set up the contest should have mentioned it in the requirements for line 4 .

Concerning my entry .You wrote:

Sloth and Cheetah" does not conform, as they are both animals, merely possessing variable metabolism and speed.

Here I disagree.

slow and fast are opposites

In my entry sloth and cheetah, both do refer to speed but whilst the sloth is the SLOWEST land mammal, the cheetah is the FASTEST land mammal.

(The )Slowest and (the )fastest are opposite.

Keep safe!

Ah good, we finally have something to argue over!

Yes, slow and fast are opposites, as is the logical extrapolation of this to the superlative tenses of those adjectives. Yes, in popular culture people might describe the cheetah and sloth as the fastest and slowest animals. But technically, mathematically, it's an apples to orange comparison.

The cheetah IS the fastest animal over short distances, at 70mph, but it can only keep up that pace for about a minute. And yes on average a sloth might move less distance in a day than any other land mammal. But an adult male cheetah only covers about 4 miles a day, which is around 10,000 human steps. Other land mammals (particularly humans) are capable of covering many times that distance. I walk 10-20 miles a day, and some people can walk many times that. A human is also capable of moving less than a sloth (40 meters) in a day, especially when playing video games all day long (excluding ignoring finger speed). Other animals do not do this; they are always moving, except when asleep or lounging about, like lazy gorillas at the zoo. So measured over time, we have examples of a human being both the fastest and slowest land mammal. Sloths can also swim much faster than they move on land, definitely faster than a primate (which would go just one direction -- down -- apes and chimps would just drown).

I don't think your entry is a violation of the rules at all though, because it's totally reasonable given the example provided in the contest, and I thought your entry was definitely one of the better ones. It is just potentially noncompliant under the subjective basis used by the CEC to disqualify my entry, if judged on the basis above. It would comply with their logic if your starting and ending words were FAST (cheetah-like), and SLOW (slothly), but that would be super lame : )

The banana is only stoopid subjectively, in the opinion of a gorilla, for not being able to escape the inteligent gorilla. It doesn't have a single brain cell. Man, being a banana must really stink.

This would be quite funny if it weren't for that completely jarring GIF which you know as animation is many pictures, and what's with the annoying Venus Banana fly trap? And of course you know this contest calls for no pictures.

I thought you were a smart gorilla, some kind of systemic something.

Do you know how bananas are grown?

Of course you know this will be DQed, but I guess that is the point. :))

One star? Oof. Well no, I missed the part about no picture, so thanks for that. I removed it. I will have to save it for a special occasion, I guess. When is your birthday?

Haha I would never give you just one star on your birthday. I was just thinking about when I might use that amazing animated GIF again. Thank you very much for the rating upgrade, and for getting my attention so that I didn't get disqualified : )
