I really must read through the book of Job, reading this has shown me just how old some of our idioms are. It's strange that most disbelievers will still call on God when they are in danger, or need His help. That tells me deep down they do believe in Him, even though they deny it. This was great, Helen, I'm going to write down all the idioms that have been featured so I don't double up. You've really started something! There were many times my grandmother would say, "Do you think I have the patience of Job?" Guess that tells you something about me and my brothers when we were growing up. Very interesting piece.

It is interesting that these idioms continue on in our speech today. I know each of these expressions but couldn't have said where they came from, except for 'the patience of Job'. Another interesting write Helen.

I know my redeemer liveth, and he shall stand on the earth in the latter days.

Lol. I'm glad I could de-mystify that for you. Actually the original alphabet that Cyril and Methodius created was called Glagolitic but it didn't take off. You can see similarities to Greek in the alphabet. Probably the early alphabets were more like Old Church Slavonic. Appreciate the great review, LisaMay! Hugs!
