Hi Wendy,
This is so cute! Very memorable tradition that seems to be hard to detect who did the deed lol. I love a good mystery and this had all the trapping of a delicious family fun time to see how cunning someone could be... or unobservant :))
A very deserved win, Wendy!
All the best,

Congratulations on winning the Family Story contest. This is a delightful and creative account of a family whose members knew how to keep a secret from one generation to the next. I enjoyed the language you used to tell a story where the same thing kept happening. Each sentence was fresh. This was a well deserved win.

This is a truly charming story about a quite amusing family prank. You were very creative to come up with such an odd family legend. You also showed how the spoon kept going without blaming anyone but making it clear they were all involved, they were a loving family.

Congratulations...what an imagination you have. A wooden spoon, hum...
I really liked the story just hoped that I knew more about what the wooden spoon stood for. Or perhaps, it was just a pranked. Anyway, I loved the story.

So glad you enjoyed this one, mostly fact with a bit of fiction thrown in. Just a prank, the spoon didn't stand for anything at all, just an annoying thing they had to get out of the bed so as to enjoy their sleep. Many thanks for your great review!

Hi Wendy,
I enjoyed your family story even though it is fictional. It sounds like it could be fun. In my own family, the non-fiction stories abound. For example, my father (in carving the Thanksgiving or Christmas turkey) would always try to fool my mother, "You forgot to take out the bag of innards when you put the turkey in the oven!" Another one was placing a dirty sock under someone's pillow. And many times, we'd hear a knock on the bathroom door when we'd just sat down. "Hello?" ...no answer! "Is anyone there?" ... no answer. I never heard tell of a wooden spoon in a bed. Did it mean anything in particular?
Congratulations on winning the contest! Good for you!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Thank you so much Kimbob! Also for your congratulations.
These little games are what make each family unique and special.
No, the spoon didn't have any special significance - it was just big enough to be felt in the bed ....

Sorry for no six for this. I'm behind in so many ways. Outstanding writing and just so fun. I'm drawn to your wholesome writing. In our home it was a plastic palmetto bug. A real looking one.
My grandson is on FanStory, Aspiring2Write, and I will be directing him to you as well.
My vote today. Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the upcoming contest,

Hi Sally, Wow, thank you so much for your beautiful review. You have made my heart sing! So glad you enjoyed my little story. My son is a great practical joker, and I am sure this one began with him when he was quite young. How wonderful for your grandson to be on Fanstory! And thank you for sending him in my direction. That's a wonderful compliment. I will check him out too.
Thank you also for your vote - much appreciated!
Hugs to you.

What an interesting game to be shared by an entire family and carried into the next generations to come. This prompt has brought out the best of the best stories. It;s going to be interesting to see who wins because they all sound like winners to me! Good luck!

This story, The Wooden Spoon, is a fun look at a family mystery made into an intriguing generational game. What a clever idea.
