She was taking unfair advantage of a decent man 's philanthropy.one more deserving person could have got it.
During floods our state gvt set up free kitchen for those who were affected. After two days the government had to beseech the public not to take unfair advantage of the scheme.

It's maddening! He can't afford to fund this on his own. Last year, I gave him enough $$$ to buy the meal cards--given that some take unfair advantage, it galls me to fund an effort that defeats the purpose--I'm going to give a lesser donation and rationalize that I'm covering the ones who deserve it!

Unbelievable!. I hope Scott called her out on her greed and that the intention was to provide a meal to those on need. If he held it in a public gathering, she would not have been able to attend.
She is about as low as someone can be.

Scott is way too lenient with his generosity. The gall of that woman! Picking up 4(!!!) dinners, complaining of inconvenience, then admitting she was being given a Thanksgiving treat by her son... I hope you have embroidered this story to use as an illustration of those among us who milk every situation of selfless generosity to their own advantage. I would not have been able to restrain myself from calling her out on her greed.

I the school I taught at we gave free Thanksgiving me to families really in need. One year a Mom came to get her meal a day early. The office explained when the meal would be delivered to the school. The yelled, swore, and became unruly, but did come and get her families meal the correct day and time. When we returned from Thanksgiving break, during circle time I asked the kids what their favorite part of the meal was. That child told me he didn't get a Thanksgiving meal. His mom sold the meal for drug money.

A glimpse into the ignorance of others can be fun and entertaining most of the time. But this one, as truthful, or made up as it might be, makes me mad. I would have spoken up and said, these dinners are for the unfortunate who have no one to be with or can't afford a Thanksgiving Dinner. So, since you obviously have the means and won't be alone, have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. But don't come here taking food away from the needy . . . you greedy bitch. Well, I wouldn't have said the last part . . . just thought it. LOL. Your a trip! Thanks for sharing.

That is the way of so many today. I want my free dinner and dinner out with family as well. (a varation of cake and eat it too.) They don't get the point of the dinners or recognize the sacrificw of the one who is willing to give. That is what is known as entitlement.

Hey Liz,
I applaud Scott for his generosity. I don't know why some people feel like they have to game the system or take advantage. It leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. When I'm writing checks for various charitable organizations, I do it with the hope that the money is going where it's intended to go. About all you can do is pray about it. If there is a question about a charity, Charity Navigator can give you some info about it. God bless Scott. I hope he doesn't let this spoil his giving spirit. There's always going to be jerks.
Thanks for sharing.
Blessings

She loves charity! And she wanted FOUR free "extra" meals? Shaking my head here...
Maybe she'll open a Go Fund Me page for extraneous Christmas "leftovers!"
Scott must be GREAT at biting his tongue!

Sadly entitlement is way out of control...
It does take away from the truly needy.
Hate that.

Oh that is indeed taking advantage of Scott's wonderful generosity. I hope he told her that she didn't need any certificates - let alone four! And to complain of lack of convenience! What a cheek!

OMG, that's the height of irony, Liz. I think at that moment Ol' Saint Scott would have been cheered by the gods to have said, "Lady, give me back my freaking certificates and get the hell out of here!"
