Memories like you had can help us through troubling times. I have so many memories of my mom, which makes me miss her less. This is a happy yet sad poem...thank you for sharing.

You've written and very poignant and meaningful 12/5 Modern Haiku. This form lends itself to so many emotional and resonating thoughts and themes. Well done, Gypsy, on this stellar write.

This is a very poignant piece that reflects the bond between father and child that never weakens. The sad thing is that time can rob us of some of the joy, but cannot erase the memories.

Another fine poem, Gypsy--ah yes, memories; they can bring you joy or painful sadness--and memories of a loved one are double the effect, that's for sure

as sun shimmers over warm lake, I reminisce --
skipping stones with dad
now, I watch him struggle to breathe in ICU --
my heart skips a beat
At one time he was the strongest and most admirable man in the world, and now we can only pray for him.

Gypsy,
This is a good form for the topic. I like the picture. I am sorry to hear your father is struggling. Is it COVID? I hope he has a full recovery.

Hello, Joan, you are the only one who got the covid part. It's fictional. Thank you very much for the excellent review and kind words.

I just thought because trouble breathing is one of the main symptoms of COVID.
Your welcome.

I like this poem. I remember my father teaching me to skip stones. Thankfully, the passed peacefully in his sleep one Christmas Day. He always said that he was afraid he would live through the long, hard winter and die in the spring and he hated that idea. He got his wish. You poem is touching. There is a poignant balance between struggling to learn to skip stones (it's an art, I think) and your father struggling to breath. I wish you both comfort and blessings.

It read well and flowed well with no Grammar Issues.

What a delightful picture to illustrate your thoughtful poem. Memories of childhood, spending time with a parent contrasted to time spent with them when they are suffering. Very well done
