This made me cry. This was so gorgeous, so glamorously poetic - you gave death a whole new meaning. I joined the sophisticated artistisity of it, Joan herself would be proud. Thank you, my friend, for doing this finest tribute to a fellow friend, a wonderful poet, an artist. She deserved every word. May her rest peace, I am going to miss her greatly.
Thank you,
Hugs, EM

What a lovely tribute, Yvette. I particularly like your first line, but it is heartbreaking. Thank goodness for the hope that you leave us in your last stanza.
This was a kind and beautiful piece to write.

So glad you enjoyed this one, BBF - was one that had some tears mixed in with the ink on the page with my own heart still a bit tender, ya know? ;) Hope all's well in the big B'ham, my lady, as we will be moving in three weeks to.... oh, did I mention we've no where yet? AAaaaaackk! ;) Yvette

You've no where to move to? Talladega here you come. Seriously, are you moving back to Huntsville? You have had quite the year.

Want to stay 'in the country' just looking for a smaller rancher house (more land would be nice...)

Well good luck. Always something to worry about.

Safely, Softly into the Light

Hello, Yvette,
A beautiful tribute to Joan, she would love it and I am sure her husband will. I love the rhyme and metre of the poem....sounds like a sonnet to me but I am not an expert. Well done!

Wasn't really even going for a certain style, Marival, just a message... ;) :) Thanx so much for stopping by and appreciating it, my lady -- means a lot! ;) Take care out there on the coast! :) Yvette

This is beautifully written and it speaks to the footprints she left behind on her earthy journey. Now only did she leave the earthy joys behind but her pain and suffering as well, and not she rest in those everlasting arms which is the goal of the soul searching for a more permanent home.

This was one of those that brings a bit of tears with the ink on the page, Beth - but I'm so glad you saw where I was going with it... ;) :) Thanx for stopping in on, my lady! ;) Yvette

A beautifully written poem, softly, softly into the light, yes, we put off this veil of now useless flesh, and are launched into the light of the unencumbered by the physical limbs and restricted movements, beautifully written, brilliantly my friend, well done, blessings Roy

I don't do 'sad' that well and see the positive and rejoicing side of the journey.... just who I am, Roy. :) :) Thanx for stopping by on this one, sir... yours inspired me, you know. Joan's testimony and smiles will certainly be missed over in my little corner of the universe...
Here's a big wish for surprises and sunshine in your sphere for the weekend ahead! ;) Yvette

This is a lovely piece with engaging rhymes and near rhymes, although i noticed that the last stanza seemed to be more of a free verse. Thanks for sharing this one.

A lovely tribute to a wonderful lady. Beautiful worded and very touching. I didn't know her very well, but I liked her very much. My thoughts and prayers are with her family in this time of such grief.

Dear yvette, what a wonderful tribute and memorial to Joan. She was one of my first fans, and we wrote reviews for each other most of my 1st year on FanStory.
I was so lucky to have been able to go To the Getty museum where she worked, only an half-hour's drive away from me.
Thank you so much for writing this!
I could have never written such a wonderful poem

This is such a vividly descriptive, moving, poignant tribute to this gravely ill Fan Story poet. In such circumstances can but pray for a miracle, for He is a God of miracles.
