If God expected man to be perfect, there wouldn't be erasers on the end of pencils. Even the best will make an occasional error. It's not the error, but the determination to correct them that counts. This is very well written.

Thanks, Charlie. Glad you are liking this. Were you here in 2006 when it first aired?

Aug 2008. You're welcome, Jay. Charlie

Hello Jay....I like the way you honestly reveal your methods of critique, or shall we say in easier terms 'crit'. If you wrote this piece in 2006, after only 3 months with FanStory, you must have gathered a lot of 'critting' experience since then. Credit given where credit due I say, and if something doesn't grab you, let them down gracefully. I look forward to your next instalment on 'crit'. Being a newbie, I always appreciate an honest critique of my fledgling work.
cheers
Annette

THanks Annette, for stopping by and reading. I was here about three years that time, then left, coming back in about 2014.

Jay, if I hadn't squandered my sixes on other superb pieces, I'd slap one on this for sure. Well stated in your pleasantly readable style. You certainly helped me a LOT and I'll always be grateful for suggestions from one of my favorite critters--cuter than a kitten, but not as cute as a koala or a young panda. But, as critters go, you'll pretty special. :)

Ha, thanks, Phyllis. I thought you, above all, would find out what a phony I am. LOL, what is the Wizard of Oz without his microphone loud speakers. Thanks, dear Phyllis, for your kindness. There are 10 more chapters to go on this one.

Nice one Jay, I think I must be one of those you gave an enthusistic crit. to and a six, and you've realised I too am flawed, but you're very personable my friend, and I'm grateful you're merciful! I was also a insurance salesman for about 4 years, some years ago, but I liked "liquid" lunches too much and it got the better of me, when I met Christ I stopped overnight, + smoking + gambling overnight. You and I are very similar, I have somebody who crits me enthusiastically giving me fours, even if I win competitions or are high up in them. Oh well. Well done, good write, you and I are very similar in view, so well done. Blessings, Roy

Jay-
I hope you won't consider it "de-energizing" if I point out to you you begin this piece with a "spag?"
Certainly you mean "ego inflation" not "go inflation?"

Thanks, Jax. Just pulled this out of the FS closet and dusted it off. Glad you like it. 10 more chapters to go.
-
You did not give me a pump....That was not being neighborly, my friend. (*<*)
-
I can't buy a pump. Well that's a lie, but I refuse to. I sure can't get one for reading.
-
I refuse to buy them either. I read my fanny off to get 'em honest! Right now I'm knee deep in finding out how much money was taken from the robbery----and how bad Garth is. (*<*)
-
Well, if you don't know how bad he is, he's in deep doo-doo!
-
You're not gonna post it tonight are you?
-
Oh, no! It will be tomorrow at least. I like to write it, and then let it brew a bit.

This just made my day! Not only is it brilliantly written, it is funny and true. I'm sure 8-9 years later this is still true. I'm not sure where I fall. If I don't like something, I don't review. I spend my time on 5s and up because I have little time...small child and all. If I don't like someone, I ignore. Im a huge fan of some people and they have graciously become mentors to me. I'm not that confident in myself, so I'm not sure where my writing sits on the scale. I pour my heart into my novel and get little, but good reviews. I write a 1 liner in 15 seconds about being an old woman with a pimple for a contest and win with a laundry list of reviews. I'm all over the place.
Thanks for this and making me stop and think about why I'm here. I just want to be better.
Another brilliantly written installment. The sheer passion and blantent honesty is refreshing. You had me smiling from start to finish and not anxious for it to be over ;) well done. Very enjoyable

Oh, I love it, JJ. Thank you so much for your interest in this. Ten more chapters to go. The original was quite popular, getting 30 to 40 reviews per chapter. Again, much obliged.

Methinks Jenny is in a good mood. Thanks, my dear for your kind words and generous rating. This is going to be long (10 more chapters), but I think it will be popular.

Well, the last part of your handle defines my weakness. I do crit poems, but I lack a knowledge of the all the different types.

Jay, I feel honored to have been viewed by the critter. Your work in this post resembles much of what I say to people about their grammar errors. Most often I am thanked, but a couple times I have been respectfully scolded, if that's possible.
I like your breakdown of reviewing levels; especially abysmal.
Keep up this informative stuff.

Oh, I am learning all the time about a more refined grammatical approach. There are so many who are better than I, especially in the area of commas. I went through the posts chapter by chapter and had to correct embarrassing grammar gaffs. But dang it that's what we're here for! Thanks so much for reading this, Janet. I hope you're on board for the remainder.
