Thanks, Dorothy, for your empathetic review. There is some great work being done in elephant sanctuaries up in Thailand but until the mass of visiting tourists transfer their allegiance to these the almighty tourist dollar will continue to sustain the elephant trekking business. It is a matter of re-education largely.

There is some great work being done in elephant sanctuaries up in Thailand but until the mass of visiting tourists transfer their allegiance to these the almighty tourist dollar will continue to sustain the elephant trekking business. It is a matter of re-education largely.

The Pantoum is definitely NOT one of my favorite styles of poetry (seems so incredibly redundant), but the content of this one is what made it a most enjoyable read for me!

I really enjoyed this Pantoum Tony, felt as though I was along for the ride and saw first-hand what you were describing!
The Pantoum is definitely NOT one of my favorite styles of poetry (seems so incredibly redundant), but the content of this one is what made it a most enjoyable read for me!

Many thanks for your kind review, JMU. The pantoum is as you say a very repetitive form of poetry and only suitable for a fairly narrow range of subjects. It's an interesting challenge though!

You have done a good job creating a pantoum poem. I am a big animal lover so this poem touches my heart. We take all these wild beautiful creatures from their natural habitats just so we humans can have a few moments of pleasure. Great descriptions throughout and the repetition of lines adds to the tone of your message. Good one!

Good complimentary photo. Good use of the abab rhyme scheme. Good perfect rhyming with side/ride...tear/fear. Good alliteration with sways/side...seeking/solace...her/here...Ganesh/god...full/fear. Good clear message followed by helpful authors notes.

I always liked repetition in a poem. i has a special kind of rhythm and also reinforces the idea.

Marvelous. Pantoums are deceptively difficult to write, and all too often are attempted by dilettantes. Here, you have used the form for a high poetic purpose. The repeated lines reinforce both the slow rhythm of the elephant's movement, and the sad, psalm-like lament of her life.
