Five stars for your speculative message, expressed in such a limited space. 5-7-5 is usually not enough latitude to make such a statement. We all, to some extent, remember a time of peace, silence and safety. Well done.

You are so right on the money, I agree that when we are little, hopefully we haven't felt life's sting. I love the picture of the butterfly in a cocoon, it reminds me of my own children who love butterflies.

Anupam, I don't really get the concept of 5-7-5 poetry but I do get this sweet little verse of yours ,especially with the picture...you are the thinking man's poet and I am appreciating your work remembering that I'm basically a rhyming 4 line verse poet with simple rhyme. THis site has opened my eyes to all other facets of poetry ad terms and I am enjoying the learning curve!

What makes life different to a child after all it is the same old, indifferent world, not a cruel world but an uncaring world. Some say life is unfair. I say life does not pretend to be anything. And yet, for child peeping through his cocoon, life might shine like something special because a child is so much closer to his essential soul. Never mind the world, stay near to your soul. -Ekim777

So beautiful. It was powerful, philosophical, brave and true. It conveyed a better message in three short lines, that many regular poems failed to do. As a fellow Indian it always makes me proud to see our citizens rise in the field of creative writing, especially grammatically correct ones. Moreover, conquering a haiku, a particularly difficult form of poetry, is truly a feat. Amazing, brilliant, wonderful.

it's not very often I understand 5-7-5s, or for that matter any of the short three lines poems, and I have to own up to the fact I didn't understand this one either. Until I read your author notes and then it was crystal clear. This is so true and it is such a shame we can't live our lives the way we see them when we are young. Well done and well written. (I will try to read more of these and see how many I can understand without the authors help! Sandra

What an amazing message you've delivered with such few words. It would be interesting to see what you could do with a lot more words seeing as you can say so much with so little. Well done

Beautiful work indeed. We also teach our children fairy tales and when they grow up, they sadly discover that life is not about happy endings. I always thought about this point and seem unable to find a way out. What? Shall we start teaching our children about violence?

A beautiful 5-7-5. I think we all wish things could be as they were in the cocoon. Your author's notes reflect my daily thinking. Very nice! :-)
