Lovely poem on the sad state of how we are misusing mother earth's resources. This is beautifully written and with lovely, gentle rhyme. Excellent reminder of how me must wake up and change our ways.

We are indeed mistreating mother nature. There are places in my area where beautiful trees and shrubbery once grew that have been chopped down and cleared to make possible the construction of apartments/complexes or strip malls. It will be a sad day when mother nature says "declined." This is an enjoyable and thoughtful poem. Happy Earth Day to you, too!

On point and well written. A very sad reminder but sme are changing things or trying to do so.
Think fo John Denver, Steve Irwin, Jacques Cousteau and know that their amilies are carrying their work on.
I am sure Henry David Thoreau would salute this work and by the way we are trying to save Walden by petition.

A truth nicely told. I enjoyed the message of this lovely piece with masterful wording. Easily understood and bringing your readers attention to a growing problem, already out of hand.

Hello adewpearl, Brooke, I enjoyed reading this timely Earth Day poem. It made me smile, but I couldn't help but to wonder if a certain handsome, impish two-year old is trying his mother's patience.
I just loved the chosen artwork of the fruit-picking fairy ... "Ain't she sweet."

An appropriate Earth Day poem, illustrating the cloud that hangs over us, threatening to burst at any moment. I liked the layout of this poem, and how you used punctuation sparingly. It read well, and I enjoyed the metaphors to describe Earth and us. Well done.
Blessings,
~ J.

Yes, indeed, Mother Earth might very well reach her limits as man continuously tests and torments in his selfish endeavors.

Incredibly beautiful poem of warning. I liked the maternal feel and the comparison to the human race being the children. This was a an eye opener. Nicely done. Happy Earth Day.

I agree a gorgeous picture, always love the little fairies. A good write for our Earth and a reminder that our Mother Earth needs looking after, protecting, nurturing, just as much, as you say in your second verse, that we do.
