While I love this poem, it doesn't meet the contest requirements as it isn't really directed to or about new members. How would it welcome them? I like it a lot, though.

In my experience yearning and longing is often about love, but in some cases it is about wealth, truth and justice. Longing is a form of grief and can break the heart at times, a poignant write, love Dolly x

You pose a good question to readers. Your words sum up your thoughts well. I enjoyed reading your contest entry. Your image and words pair nicely. Thanks for sharing and best wishes. Welcome to FS.

First things first, welcome to FanStory Opal. I'm sure you will enjoy the site.
Your fivesevenfive definitely invites us to ponder over the question of why we hunger for something beyond our immediate needs.
Truth and justice might be a bit more opaque and are perhaps learned constructs.
Very nicely done and best wishes to you with the voters. :)

This 5-7-5, The Longing, has the right set up and visits the moments when bodily urges make logic and propriety their bitches.

Quite short and simple. I have to agree with you, the feeling of longing for something could be very overwhelming, it could be anything one can imagine. The image depicts very nicely. Good work. Well done

Needs. Because we need more than want. Needs are personal wants are selfish, but that's just me. When one yearning has been satisfied another will always rise. Nice job. Love the artwork. Keep writing, all that's left of us when we're gone is pictures and words remembered. Best regards.

Yup, your poem is a mystery. Are you talking about knowledge, love , lost?
Ravenous yearning
returning to seize my thoughts
forevermore; why?
Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

If other animals 'speak', they surely have a version of 'why?' in their lexicon, too. Any species that experiences curiosity must have a way to ask why. We have a thirst to know . . . that's why.
Best of luck with the voters.
Peace, Lee

A very well-written 5-7-5 about yearning for something different than what we have and the moment seize forever and we wonder why we can never be content.
