I can't believe that I am awarding a nonet a six star rating. Usually I don't particularly enjoy them. This one is so lovely though. You use the format to your advantage and tell a poignant story. Something in the narrator's past has given meaning to those nodding narcissus. Inhaling the scent brings it flooding back to him.
This one is moving, Diane. Thank you for sharing and for showing me how nonets should be done.

Dear Debbie!
Please accept my sincere apologies for being so late in my reply!
I am deeply honored by your exceptional rating and complimentary review.
My mother was such a positive and dynamic force in my life. February is her birthday month. She is never more than a thought away...especially when daffodils bloom...
Thank you again!

The loss of our parents is hard for those of us who were truly loved by them. We grieve, we rise above our grief and enjoy the fun and happy memories. And then, on their birthdays, holidays, or just out of nowhere, we grieve again. And there is beauty in that grief because it means we never stopped loving them.

-Nice image and
presentation, diane.
-This is a lovely poem
in honor of your mother.
-I like the two lines about
the narcissus "clustered
in vase of blue."
-The ending lines make
the poem very touching
and show your deep love
for your mom, and how
she is missed.
-I bet she is saying
this is a really nice poem
you wrote for me, and it
came with flowers, too.
-Good luck in the contest.

Dear Pam,
Please accept my sincerest apologies for being so late in my reply.
Thank you for your excellent rating and thoughtful review.
My mother was a master floral designer. Everything I know of flowers, gardening, and beauty I learned from her. She was such a positive and dynamic force in my life. Daffodils were her favorite Springtime flower. She is never more than a thought away...especially when daffodils are in bloom...
Thank you again!

This is a great entry for the nonet contest. I like the images of her essence greeting you, and the nodding narcissuses. Your words paint a very real picture and your ending is very relatable. Great job and good luck!

That is a lovely tribute nonet poem for your mother, and so beautifully worded. We never quite lose them, do we? I feel my mother nearby when I miss her the most, which is almost all the time! I'm sure your mother is watching over you and has read this poem and smiled. You've written a lovely contest entry, my friend. Good luck! :)) Sandra xxx

I know the feeling. My mom loved gardenias. And whenever I smell that sweet vanilla scent, my heart skips a beat. They are always with us in our hearts. Beautiful and touching piece.
