This is lovely. So much store held in those little bodies.
No spag, good form and flow. I especially liked the whisper in his ear.
Good luck with him. Never thought I'd reach the age to rue life's new complexities...but here I am. :) Carrie

Thank you so much, Carrie. I know what mean, my friend, and I appreciate the great review.

A sweet, typical sort of poem that this kind of occasion is looking for. What else can one say about such a young person, who has not left his mark yet. So the author writes about the occasion, and what it means to him. Good write. Good rhyme scheme and smooth flow.

Beautifully done with heartfelt emotion. I hope you will be the one reading this at the christening. Simply print it on good paper, sign it and post in a silver frame. I have no doubt it will be a cherished part of the household.
Complex metaphors have no place in words that come from the heart!

I will, AT. I asked him if he wanted me to read it and he said he wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you so much, my friend.

An inspiring poem for your God son D and congratulations on a sterling effort here. I like the multi use of the theme word "child" and it certainly seems as though this tiny miracle is already held in high poetic esteem. When we behold a child, particularly one we've birthed ourselves we feel an instant connection and unconditional love. We also place a mountain of hope upon this tiny being and the legacy he or she will contribute to. I think you've done a fine job G-Dad and I'm sure your friend will appreciate your wonderful write and acknowledgement of the start of his future. Well done.

Thank you so much, P, for that. This is my first poem for such an occasion, and I wanted to pull 'us' in to it. Not being a father (other than being your DADDY), I wasn't exactly sure how to best approach it. Your review makes me feel good about it. Thank you, m'lady.

LOL
Always a pleasure m'lord.

You're right that this isn't your usual fare, but it's still done with your typical attention to detail and excellent rhyme and meter.
