Hullo Visionary ....

Of course, you know that I am smiling at what you have written in your Notes at the end. "We - the Peaceful
Watchers" describes how I felt looking at the massive waves breaking on the Cape Coast knowing that one of my sons aspires to being out there with his board. I was a peaceful but mystified watcher, wondering where these young people get the nerve to take on the mighty ocean as they do.
Thank you for sharing these thought with us. As this is a Contest entry, I wish you well.
Love from .... Nanette Mary.

It won't let me give you a six or I most certainly would have. This was an absolute joy to read. I'm keeping this one, too. I love the whole thing from start to finish. Feel the joy of time when life was wild as ocean wave, and every breath had possibilities. That's exactly what I felt when I read your poem. Thanks for taking me back on this ecstatic ride.

Merciful? First attempt? It's bloody gorgeous, Sharyn. I could see, feel, hear and smell that surf. Wow. I ADORE that second to last stanza:

We, the peaceful watchers, feel the joy
of time when life was wild as ocean wave,
and every breath had possibilities.

Makes me want to run along a beach somewhere.

Very enjoyable read.

Av

Oh, and by the way... "Shakespeare, eat your heart out."

Hi visionary1234,

Your choice of art works beautifully with your words and your lines offer quite the vision flowing with ease.
Loved these lines...

Anticipation-inspiration's breathe
They laugh and slide down milk'n' cream laced foam
We, the peaceful watchers, feel the joy
of time when life was wild as ocean wave,
and every breath had possibilities.
My love, come with me, gently take my hand
Let's vow to live this way, from now to end.

Beautifully written and I wish you the best with this contest.

I 'm not a poet as poets go. I write a poem and then decide if it rhymes and if it doesn't rhyme it's a free verse.LOL. I did enjoy reading. Thanks for sharing. Mary

this one's blank verse my dear - free verse has no rhythm, but blank verse is written in iambic pentamer - thx so much for reading & reviewing! :) Sharyn

I like it. You are a romantic. The poem is written very well and flows nicely. Your description of the ocean as people surf is awesome. I could imagine the action. The picture and color scheme add to the impact of the poem. Giving it more depth. Thank you for sharing

Sharyn, I loved this! Images of windsurfers firstly, showing their love, the unbound way of life, that the image of a "peaceful watcher" admiring their elan and wishing to live that way as well - not on surf, but with the guts. Great poem!!
