An interesting story. I've never heard this either. What a great tale about the bird who gave it's all, for the baby Jesus. Well done as usual.

Wow, this could be as famous as the little drummer boy! I like the legend, I think it's sweet, and honestly it's almost reminiscent of some of the native stories. It's really interesting the way that all peoples and cultures have made up similair legends about how all creation came to be. Thanks for sharing this one in lovely form, and by the way I really liked that expression "when Mary saw the embers wane".....great job!

Hullo Adewpearl ...
Yes, I have heard this beautiful legend before and you have presented it so well in this Quatern format.
There is nothing to suggest changing but I, personally, would put the NAMES - Robin ... and Robin Redbreast ... with capital letters. With lower-case, they look so unimportant and insignificant and, after all, the Robin is the star of this story.
Thank you for sharing this poem with us. The picture at the top is just right.
With love from ... Nanette Mary.

Dear Brooke,
A robin red breast brought her strength when she saw the embers wane. The spirit soars like a bird and this verse is done in perfect rhyme.
Warm regards,
Winslow

Thank you for sharing this wonderful story.
It brought tears to my eyes, especially, the last stanza:
So robin redbreasts to this day
display their colors to proclaim,
"When duty called, we found a way
when Mary saw the embers wane."
We often think that we are to insignificant to make a difference...but, the heroic make the effort and fill the need. T

Beautiful photograph. I loved your poem and think it is one of your best offerings. The legend of how the Robin came to have a red breast is fascinating. We need more of these 'feel good' stories and Christmas is the right time to write about the good things that happened so long ago. Blessings.

I love this story about the redbreasted robin. I have never heard of it before. You did a perfect job of communicating the legend in poetic form. It is well crafted & a pleasure to read. I will have to add a tree with a robin in it to my Nativity Scene!
