Your poem is stunning, Carol - the flow and rhyme are perfect and you completely capture what I've seen in several elderly couples in my church where one became terribly ill in old age - the other, so devoted, would gladly give his or her last breath for the other to live. Immediately, the faces of some of those wonderful people leaped into my mind. Brooke

Brooke My parents, both 89, have been married 62 years. I can't imagine what will happen when something happens to one of them. How do you live without your other half? Thanks for the awesome review. Carol

After having shared a lifetime, I think it is normal for each to think, "Who goes first?" In these small amount of words you depict one of the spouses willing himself to leave first and let the other live. An act of love. Good luck with the competition, Carol.

Thanks so much for your kind words. I only dabble in the poetry. There are so many that far exceed my humble talent. But I enjoy expressing myself now and then. Thanks again.

Wow. WOnderful poem. Sure looks like a winner to me. Very strong in its emotion and story considering the few words you have to use. Great job.

To lose a loved one with whom you have spent a lifetime is difficult. This is very well written with good imagery and descriptive scheme. Good luck in your contest.

Michelle I think any couple that has been together for decades will feel like they are dying too. My parents have been married 62 years...I wonder if they ever remember the other one not being there...Thanks for the review. Carol

They say less is more and you've done well with just 15 words. Lovingly expressed and conveyed beautifully. Congratulations.
