Hello dewpearl.
A fairy, an angel, only God knows! This is a beautiful work, and I so appreciated your author notes. I like that her 'mundane' job led to sharing in a marvellous event. One just never knows! Very creative!
fondly, rebecca

Rebecca, thanks ever so much for your warm response - you are right, one never knows when being accepting of a lowly station will lead to great things, Brooke

I liked the premise more than I liked the poem, and I usually suggest to the poet that they make it into a prose piece when I feel that way.
Cool piece, though.

What a horror it must have been when Herod sent all those soldiers to kill all those babies. This was a beautifull written piece. We all have our place even fairies. joan marie

Once again a beautiful Christmas poem, which warms the heart. I am one of those who loves everything about Christmas, from gift-giving and receiving to sights, smells, stories and songs.
I just wondered about the line "in the wee-est hours of black winters' nights" and it occurred to me that it could also read as "till the wee-est hours of a black winter's night" which would rhyme clearly with 'sight' in that verse. The third line could read "When that fateful eve...". Please don't mind me, as the poem on it's own is written in your inimitable style, which makes for near perfection. I guess that's why the two words caught my eye. Thank you for adding so much to the magic of Christmas

I wanted to paint the picture of her doing this for years, not just one winter, which is why I went with winters' instead of a winter's - thanks so much for your most thoughtful review, Brooke

The picture goes great with your poem. I wouldn't change a thing and I loved reading your thoughts. This is a tough holiday for me so sometimes it's good to read about it

I know how much you miss your sister this holiday season, so I am most glad this poem found favor with you! Thank you, Brooke :-)

You really are obsessed with the alphabet and fairies, aren't you? I love them though, your poems that is. Anyway, good job, a very different way of getting the Greatest Story out there.

Well, Brooke, you've created a beautiful fairy poem to delight the hearts and minds of children everywhere, including those grown-ups who still retain a child's memory. I noted your references to 'obedience' to God's commands, and the practice of 'agape', spiritual love for others, both of which I know you display in your life of caring for others in your community. Peter

I had not thought of the term agape love when writing this, but you are absolutely right - that term sums up the entire life of this fairy. Thank you so much for this most generous and perceptive review and commentary, Brooke

I wasn't being generous; I had to give what you deserved. Of course, I gave it willingly.

This is a lovely story, Brooke, and you have done the Christmas fairy great justice. Wonderful descriptions and rhyme. As always, I had a bit of trouble with the rhythm in your free spirit expression, but it still worked well telling an absolutely delightful story. Loved how you brought the holly berries and the pure white gown in to the significance of Christ. Excellent and imaginative poem. Joyce

I give you a six, yay!!! Okay, the poem is awesome but there's an underlying theme here that I want to mention. I LOVE that you have God and fairies together in the same world. This is my biggest thing, these people who think kids shouldn't read about magic and wizards because it's evil......I think, and I said this in one of my first short stories here called "Jive"....that angels are fairies, God is magical, aliens are real, people have psychic abilities which are gifts from God,.....witch or priest or whatever, it's all part of EVERYTHING! Okay, I'm done, but I think you know what I'm getting at. People need to be more....open minded, like you are!

Thanks so much for this - I have an earlier poem in my portfolio on why God made fairies that discusses angels and fairies and how they differ, and I had a person deduct a star because I should not have put fairies in God's presence. That was months ago and I still remember it. I think fairies are part of God's creation - and a delightful part at that. Yes, I'm amused in a horrified sort of way when I hear someone wants to ban Harry Potter from a school library because it promotes evil beliefs in wizardry - lighten up, people!!! Thanks so very very much for this most enthusiastic and generous review, Brooke

My daughters read so much, and what they love best, particularly my daughter Grace, is Harry Potter. We're not allowed to mention it in front of Great Grandma, she thinks I'm condoning Satanism! Anyway, so, we agree on many things!
