I was so relieved to read your author's notes after I read your poem. I agree with you. I believe the terrorists have set up a whole group of people into dying not for a cause they believe in but in order to provide the families they leave behind something they could not provide them any other way. It is the same as someone deliberately buying a huge insurance policy on themselves, then waiting out the two year suicide clause, then driving off a cliff or something to get out of debt or such. The conditions under which these people live, at best is horrific. Who can blame them for sacrificing themselves for their families? How often do we hear the families say they don't believe their loved one believed in said cause? It makes me ill. Great write.

I think the greater cause would be opening up their eyes and minds and setting things up to be better for the future generations, not just in using themselves to make a statement. Thank you very much for the compliments nad the review.

You know something? If I was a premiere member I would most definitly rate this one a six all the way! It's awesome! I was totally mesmerized and couldn't take my eyes away from the screen. When something like that happens to a poet they should give themselves a pat on the back. Excellent!

great job!!! war and killing is a shame, I enjoyed your author notes as well as your work. lets not forget if you want a true martyr/hero I would have to think of mother theresa who suffered to help others not to kill. keep up the great writing. (smile) pugdogy

Thank you very much for your compliments and this review. Yes, there are many people who take great sacrific upon themselves to help others in their belief. Sometimes, even today in giving up thier lives.

The meaning of your poem, fundamentally, is very good.
There are very few true martyrs born in my lifetime. There are a few but those that have been dubbed as such would never willingly carry this cross. It is a very heavy cross to bear.
In your sixth verse, third line "as faithful as me, in anyway." really does not make much sense to me. Did you omit a word in your typing or something of this nature?
This poem has good meter and causes us all to sit and wonder what is to become of this world? Good inspiring thoughts.

"as faithful as me, in any way." I a worldy judgement of people by these terrorists. So to speak, I am better then you as you are lesser. Their excuse in killing. Jesus came down to broach this to the high priests, in in reading the Gospel's even some high priests agreed with him. I believe that Jesus could say the same thing today, especially in this aspect.
I also regret to inform you that there are modern day Martyrs. I brought my writing up to a priest today and he told me how relevant my poem and notes are. Very recently a Catholic Priest was assassinated outside of his church in Iraq, even while still in his vestments. It was a shock because it was also his life long effort to continually work towards peace. Yet, someone was immediatly willing to take his place. I believe that he was truly Martyred and most people killed in this fashion will never be widely known.
I am glad that my poem has the ability to inspire thought. Thank you very much for your compliments and this review.

Mike, I totally agree with your well written and expressed poem and also the informative author notes. Being a Middle Eastern, not a Western, I am even more appauld to what is happening here in the name of religion. I am Christian, but all the moderate Muslim are totally against Martyrs. I think ignorance and brain wash have a lot to do with what those people believe or are taught to believe. It is so sad that it is claiming so many lives.

Mike, I totally agree with your well written and expressed poem and also the informative author notes. I have gain a love and respect for people of so many cultures and religions and I appreciate this adventure in my life. Unfortunately most people are only subjected and apply it to all people from what they hear on the news. My favorite stories I heard came from a man who is in the oil business, working in the fields. His view of the Muslim's is absolutely top notch and he actually feels he has less to fear in an Islamic country then he does from an American City. Thank you very much for your compliments nad this review.
