Amazing animals, indeed! The porcupines are a species I did know nothing about. They look a bit like eagles, don't they? But the eagles do not have such devastating quills as the porcupines. Anyway, I am warned. Whenever I may meet one, I will leave him alone and in peace.

Thank you so much for the six stars, Marjon, and this fabulous review. I don't think many people do know much about them apart from them being very prickly! :)) I found it a very interesting subject to research. I'm so pleased you enjoyed reading about them, and learning to stay clear!! LOL Have a wonderful day, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Welcome, Sandra!

Hi Sandra, this is so interesting, and I love to read about this special animal. I'm learning all the time and I can imagine it will be no fun to play around with them. I just wonder whether hedge hog is in the same family. I remember my dogs getting into trouble in Denmark. We don't have them here where I live in Spain. Wonderful poem you've written as well. A big hug. Ulla xxx

Thank you so much, Ulla, for the lovely six stars and nice review. We don't in England have porcupines in England. We do have the hedgehog, but to answer your question, there are 17 different species of hedgehogs, and their closest relations are actually shrews and moles. They have the quills like porcupines, but that's as far as it goes. That's surprising, isn't it? Thanks again, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Of course silly me didn't know quite enough of these marvellous animals Sandra. They appear to be two typo, (which I was ignorant of) I thought they were native to England, the fact that they are tree climbers in North America was news to me. Duh! Bless you, I'm on a steep learning curve. Well done, blessings, Roy

I'm so pleased you found this one interesting, Roy. There is so much to learn about individual animals, I don't think we could take it all in! Thank you, my friend, for another lovely review, my friend. Big hugs, Sandra xxx

-Good artwork, photos, information,
and poem about porcupines, Sandra.
-A lot of helpful information about quills.
-I always feel badly for the animals
that come in contact with them.
-I guess the mother is lucky she
has a small reprieve before the
baby's quills harden! Ouch!
-I didn't know there were old world
and new world porcupines, either.
-I guess it depends when they
came over for the old world, LOL.
-The have a variety of sounds I
didn't know they made, and I could
deal with sleeping and eating in a tree,
just without porcupines in it!
-Well done and interesting.

Thank you so much for another wonderful review, Pam. I was surprised at how much there was of interest about these spikey animals. A few women mentioned the birthing of the porcupines, I doubt there would be many left in the world if they weren't soft. But I had to laugh at the few comments I had from men about how they mated. I've now added that in my author's notes. I'm not sure whether to add it to the book in general, or leave it out. Perhaps you and Robert would give me your thoughts on it. I have to keep in mind that children will read this, and being an old grandma now, I also realise things have changed so much in children's educations from my day.
Thank you and a big hug for the six stars, your review was my first so that was so nice of you. I was so tired after I posted this one, I went straight to bed. My throat was sore and I had a terrible headache. I feel better today. :) Have a wonderful day, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

You are very welcome for the stars and review, Sandra. I appreciate your reply. I am glad you are better; I was a little concerned before read that. Take care and have a good day and good week. I'll take a look at the notes and go over your story, too.
