A treasure indeed. You keep your memory alive because it is a loving extension of who you have become. A sacred story of sacrifice in this gem.
Superbly written and aptly illustrated. Sending you my best today and six stars, dear Diane.

This is really a story in poem form. It is beautifully told and nicely rhymed. I enjoyed reading it. I would say these letters are indeed a treasure. It is good that your parents kept them safe in the book. The war was horrible and there were so many losses.

A very well-written heartfelt poem about the treasure found between the pages. A letter sent that was never received during a war that kill so many brave men. To have a close family member died in a war is devastating at least.

You've brought home the horror of war, and this is that terribly ugly face and it's innocent victims. My dad was at Dunkirk at the outbreak of WW2 and they were surrounded by German troops, 300,000 British were rescued by small British vessels to fight again. This is a fantastic poem, must have taken awhile, fantastic effort my friend, blessings, Roy

Hello Diane, Oh what a find - letters inside a book and they had lay there waiting to be found by you. You tell the story so well with good rhyme, consistent, despite the length of your story. I have read about your uncle in your previous work. We are so lucky that our children have grown up without the fear of war. I know my Gran never got over the death of my Dad who was 29 when he was killed. Life goes on but you never forget. Your display picture is wonderful - those letters with the dreaded stamp on the envelope - "RETURNED TO SENDER; SERVICE SUSPENDED." The shock is hard to imagine. Very well told - thank you for posting. Warm regards Dorothy xx

Hello Dorothy!
A "find" indeed!
Thank you for your excellent rating and thoughtful review.
My grandmother possessed such deep faith; I never once heard her say a negative word about anyone or anything... I wrote a poem about her a number of years ago: "Lucy Rose." It is in my portfolio, should you get the chance to read it...
Thank you again!
