Are you saying your wife didn't make you a cup too? That would be lonely indeed. I don't have any suggestions. I admire all you poets who say so much in just a few words - and then have to get the syllable count correct!

Hmmmmm... I am imagining a number of scenarios here. You don't drink tea? You do drink tea, but she is making a statement by not making one for you too? A little tiff perhaps? Or, she is making one for you - and you realize that she won't be joining you? Or worse, she's not even there and you are making tea and "missing" the memory of her when there is only one cup for the spoon to strike? A good poem does that!

That is the loneliest sound...we hear it chime and chime again...but for me it would be coffee. My husband and I start the day with the argument ...Your turn to make coffee...no it's yours...but I got him...if God meant for women to make it ..it would be Shebrews...LOL
