HELLO EARL: This is a good work you have done here. It runs directly in line with this true saying. "Our God has not given us a spirit of fear...but a spirit with the power of a sound mind." You are clever that you understand this, Earl. You understand the importance of gaining self improvement. For you...that's a plus. God bless. Cordially: rhonnie69.

Hello Earl Corp
I like your poem Faith not Fear in excellent rhyme why you had no faith until---
After a health scare, and your wife said,
remember it's faith not fear.

You are most fortunate to have a wife that gives you six stars. I'm not much into religion or God. I believe both can be a gift or a curse. I believe that any philosophy that helps someone get through the trouble in their life, is a good thing. Anything harmful done in the name of religion or God, can't be good. Just my opinion. I wish you luck in the contest. Take care.

You're right about religion, whatever floats you're boat. Nobody's is better than anybody else's.We might as well let everyone believe what they want, because it's not hurting anyone. Imagine if you kept calling Buddhists and Hindus heathens and Norse, Greek and Roman religions mythology. Then when you go you get ferried across the River Styx by Thor only to be judged by an elephant with eight arms who throws lightening bolts at the earth. Uh oh, someone is being reincarnated as a dung beetle. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review my work.

Your reply is more imaginative and creative than the vast majority of my entries. I may even read a little sarcasm in reply as well. But you entertained me. I, for a very long time now, have felt that doing what's right shouldn't be done because you're afraid of God's wrath. Or even doing what's right to please God. If I do something right, it's because it's the right thing to do. If there is a God, when I die, I'll go where I'm suppose to go. I'm not going to worry about it till I meet the boatman or some saint... that might be too confident, or some guy with a pitchfork. Again, your reply makes me most curious about the hereafter, but I can wait. Best wishes.

I didnt mean to be sarcastic, and i'm sorry if you took it that way.

I didn't take your reply in a negative way. Please don't think that. I just like the banter. Looking forward to our next encounter. Take care.

This is a beautiful addition to the faith poetry contest and is a definite contender. Despite its shortness, you got your point across brilliantly and described the moments when you learnt important life lessons, from innocent child and wild teenager, to contented, wise adult. Your wife sounds very wise too and provides good advice- we should keep the faith instead of fear for fear only holds us back. Brilliant entry x

Yes, you are right in the first part of the write when you are younger, you believe what is taught, then sometimes as you get older, life takes over, you get bolder in many ways, and often as one gets even older, unless something has been instrumental in putting them back on track, age sometimes does, yet, whatever the reasons, if one is content, faith is a beautiful thing. Good luck with the write.
Best wishes

Since your wife rated this with 6 stars, I doubt this rating means much. Still, I've got to say that this is an excellent piece. Everyone makes mistakes, but we can go back and become better. Good luck in your first contest!

Hi, Earl Wow! What a great Faith poem this is. I especially liked these lines:

"After a health scare,
At my mortality I did stare"

Good job, but I strongly suggest you use a different color for your text as it is too faint and not easy to read. bless you Earl, Bob

You are right, Earl. Readers ratings mean little in the overall picture. What YOU like is more important. I enjoyed your story in a poem. Your rhymes are good, the lines flow smoothly, and the message is clear. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Excellent Poem! I really enjoyed your poem. The author's words were
descriptive, creative and thought provoking. The reader pondered on
the words of this poem and her own faith. The artwork is perfect and
compliments the theme and words of this poem. Faith - Believing
before you see. Thank you......

At least your wife still loves you and has faith in you so you have that warm six star glow inside. I like it too. it charts a pretty normal life really. Childish beliefs give way to an agricultural phase (sowing wild oats) and later problems seemingly overcome. Yup, pretty normal, life happens much like this. I can't afford to give it six but then I am not married to you. Lol.
