Great job, Jay, with your essay on character development. Interesting beginning, especially revealing you were on the treadmill when you were thinking of this. Good for you! Also the examples like Jason Bateman were realistic and informative, especially for visual learners like me. One of the hardest things for new writers to do is to realize that all characters have good and bad sides...in order to make them human. Great advice. 8-)

Thank you karen. I appreciate your kind words and your generous rating. It's always important to find the balance in our characters. Let them go to extremes, but always leave hope for them to work back to the balance.

Jay, I couldn't get into the background work you put forth here about the interview, the twins, Justin Bateman, going to the gym, etc. all before your noggin worm kicked in.
I respect and agree with your premise that no character is all good or all bad. We must paint them human to be credible writers.
