DAMN IT. I so very much wanted to give this a six. It was such a commentary. At fifty one, I am starting to see visions of my parents and then going over the slow decline to when they passed away. I hold on to the fact that they would be proud of me, and then think about my children and how they will never know those wonderful people. Your poem brought me a bitter sweet comfort.

Hi Sharyn, WOW!!! What a wonderful write. This is so very well expressed. Love the feel of you rolling on the river. Sometimes it's wonderful to go back to old memoies. Where could be a better place. Very welll written Sharyn. Linda xxoo

I love this poem. I wish I could have given you six stars because I don't have any left. Aside from the lovely memory of rowing with your father my favorite part was the last line

I wish my son could see him

Sharyn, there' lots to like about this touching piece. It is true that particular actions can revive memories of thos we associate with them - as here where the very action of rowing brings such vivid recall of your father.
Touch of the tearjerkers in your final line - wouldn't we all like to keep that connection going across the generations, impossible though it may be.
Not so much of your dazzling wordplay here but the touch is delicate.

Steve

Sharyn - This is another nice poem. I take it that your father was a picture in your mind. Anyway that's what it sounds like to me. Kat

Well Done ~ Sharyn

This poetry paints a beautiful image. The way that the
words are arranged on the page gives the reader the
sense of a rowing motion. The attached photo is a
befitting accent the helps the reader to visualize the
message. Thank You for your creation.

What a nostalgic write this is and for you to wish your son could see him to is just perfect. Your presentation mimics the back and for movement of your write. Makes the reader feel they are there.

Sharyn, this is brilliant. You effortlessly transitioned from your work-out in the gym to reminiscing of your childhood and your dear departed father, then back to the present with a generational shift. The rowing theme and the rhythm you created with it just worked a treat. This thing won't let me give you a six, but I was enchanted, cheers Peter

The writer tells this story clearly from beginning to end. The writer does a good job of leading the reader where the reader needs to go. The photo selected is good for the words in this piece. Good job.

There is nothing like those vivid memories to reflect upon when were doing something that another person enjoyed too. A shared moment in time perhaps..

I enjoyed reading this and the touching ending. Sometimes we can't share with our kids what we would have loved for them to experience too.
