LOL Somehow, he struck me as a somewhat gay vampire. This was a marvelous story, excellently crafted, and it should do well as an entry into the contest. Well done.

Thanks, Edward :-). I was trying to put a new spin on the old erotic/vampire comparison, having his friend (and perhaps some readers) think he was talking about being gay rather than craving blood! Glad you enjoyed the read.

Good

You've got a good story line, but I got stumped right off the bat. You mentioned an unannounced toast and then the next paragraph Steve tells him "You got the mouth of a poet and the life of a dustman."

That stopped the flow of the story in my mind b/c now I kept thinking, what was the toast that made Steve say that.

Just something to think about. Keep it up.
