A very touching poem of and elderly couple having to say goodbye after being together for a lifetime. This brought tears to my eyes, and I could feel the pain and sorrow of the last goodbye.. Sarabran

Thanks for reading my poem. I was thinking about my 89 yr old parents, married 62 years and never separated. I think this will be very tough. Thanks again. Carol

A lifetime shared,
His last breath he would give,
Holding hands,
Praying she might live.
The signs of true and everlasting love are here in this magnificent poem. Very well thought out, and I love the artwork

Thanks for the kind words. I am glad that you enjoyed the poem. I believe a moment like that would be unbearable for most. Thanks again Carol

I think you are a winner again with this succinct piece for which your chosen illustration is perfect. Furthermore, I too am a Begin Again in my senior years, so we shall be able to relate. Unfortunately, I don't think the younger folks relate well to our topics, so we shall have to boost each other. Writewoman

My 89 yr old parents have been married 62 years and never apart, I think it will be unbearable to see one of them left without the other. They don't ever say much but to me I think it will be devastating. Thanks again Carol

Summer Thanks so much for your awesome review. I'm not a real poet, but I do enjoy putting my emotions into words, especially when someone else enjoys it too. Thanks again.

To offer one's life is the greatest gift of all. And it is here in your poem that a man faces the future without his lifetime partner. Very good imagery and strong emotions from just a few words.
There are some strong contenders for this competition and so I wish you, good luck.
Best wishes,
Malcolm

This is a beautiful poem. Your poem speaks of a very selfless love. This poem reminds me so much of my mom ans dad. They were married 52 years before my mom died. I know my dad would have died for her if he could. Great poem. Good luck in the contest. Shirley

Hitch Thanks for the review. My parents have been married 62 years and they are 89 yrs old. I wrote the poem wondering what will happen when one of them dies, I can't even begin to face it. Thanks for the kind review. CArol

How cool is that, 89! my wife's grandfather is 94, unfortunately her grandmother passed two years ago, he did come out to New Zealand for two months at the start of the year from Holland, my wife loved it! Regards Hitch.

I think one of the best parts of life is the stories my dad can tell about growing up poor in the country during the depression and how he climbed the ladder of success the hard way. My children and grandchildren think he's making things up...what no television or ipods or computers or microwaves...My how times change. Have a nice evening. Carol

Begin Again,
This work was so touching. In fifteen small words, you've expressed a lifetime of love. Great job. Good luck in the contest. elaine

Yes, Begin Again, this is short; but it holds meaning beyond the few words. It truly expresses love. It's well put about grief for a lost loved one. Perhaps there's feeling there that carries pathos, mourning and sentiment not requiring a lot of words.
