Hello Paul Mcfarland,
Nice piece of Humor Poetry having lucid as well as perfectly matching the theme phraseology, smooth flow throughout from the beginning to the end with lovely rhyming scheme, and beautifully depicting its theme.
Three stanzas are particularly noteworthy: "They all agreed...my last drink."
Interesting Indeed!
BEST OF LUCK in the contest.

This is quite the poem. You have a unique tale here. I wasn't expecting Patrick to rise up the way he did. Your poem reads like a mini movie, you have a clear bar scene and a smooth poetic flow of words. Your poem reminds me a little of Robert Service's poems.

Humorous poem, and cleverly written. It reads like a ballad, with its smooth rhythm and flow. The rhyme is well done and unforced. It's an enjoyable read. Thanks for posting.

Paul, this is incredible! What a delightful and superb read! How did you ever come up with that charming tale? I am reminded a bit of "The Cremation of Sam McGee," a campfire tale my dad had memorized. Your ingenuity and creativity have no bounds! If I had another star to give, I surely would. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for the review. Like your dad, I memorized Sam McGee. That was years ago. Probably would stumble a little now.

Only an Irishman could write a poem like this. You must be Irish! Lol. ( I used to be married to one).
This is delightful and a wonderful entry into the rhyming poem contest! Your meter is near perfect and the poem flows smoothly. Your rhymes are easy and don't sound forced.
The story is delightful and in true Irish tradition!
Thanks for writing and good luck!

Thank you, Katiemae. I am Irish, but never learned how to drink like the Irish.

This work has reached the exceptional level

A fun, well rhymed and metered poem, a story skilfully told to amuse and bring to life this character who was fond of a drink. You made me smile here and I loved your bouncy words that took me on a journey through your muse, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Thanks, Janet. I'm Irish, too, but I never got into the drink. So I may not be true Irish.

This is an interesting poem with rhyme and rhythm. It is quite humorous and sounds like a ballad so it should be a song. As a matter of fact, it reminds me somewhat of Finnegan's Wake. Good job. Good luck in the contest.
