Roy, I might quibble with your logic here by stating that politicians resemble SOME of us - and of course since there are both good and bad politicians, some of them deserve much more criticism than others. Also, by going into public office, politicians open themselves up to criticism - they should not only expect it, but also learn from it.
That being said, I enjoyed the way you laid out the argument in your poem in your usual well-made verse.
In an ideal world, we would elect representatives who are among the best of us!

But how do you know who?s best? You? Me? You don?t walk in other?s shoes, that?s my point. You know the saying, ?walk a mile in my shoes?. Could you face the abuse they receive? But thanks for the review. Blessings Roy

Dear Roy, those words are bound to put many to shame, including me. Your poem and your author's notes are simply telling the truth. We cannot blame the person we chose and put into power, because that person was our choice. In fact we should look closer inside ourselves when we critisise anyone. Well done, my friend. Excellent poem to wake up to this Sunday. :)) Sandra xxx

It's true, as Christians we ought to be less judgmental... Things have gotten pretty toxic out there in the world of politics --and passionate beliefs are riding high. A succinct reminder that we reap the consequences of our own choices. Of course... Who could have predicted this "series of unfortunate events" in which results of elections are in a never ending power grab of audits and re-audits? Time to take a deep breath. I'm guilty as charged... I will try to adjust my knee jerk reactions.

You speak much common sense and insight of humanity in these words, Roy. Let God be the judge. Our current times are so disrespectful, often lacking integrity and honour... so sad that this lack of quality can be seen in many politicians.

This is an interesting philosophy, Roy, and one you are entitled to. I wonder though, when we vote for politicians, are we not judging them when think about who to vote for? Just a thought.

Amen!! Is only God Who has the right to judge and we should remember that there is none righteous before Him. I find it appalling that some harshly judge one politician of another party when their favored politician of their own party has done the same deplorable things, if not worse.
Great message, Roy!

A refreshing rebuttal to the ugly political diatribes rife on this site and elsewhere--provocative piece--you'll surely get some spirited replies on both sides!
