This is excellent debi! I could feel the concern you had for you and your horse! Your description of the storm arriving was very good and I'm glad you were being watched over!

WJ Debi,
I love every part of your story. The way you were one with your horse, the prayers that got you home on time, your rhymes and rhythm, the way you watched the storm, all your word choices. I will have to give you a virtual 6.

Brings back a lot of memories for this ole gal. I could sit and watch the horses for hours they have their own personalities.

It is good to see you are back. I agree, I could watch horses for hours. They are such beautiful and dynamic creatures. With only three horses now it should take me ten minutes to water and feed, but somehow I can turn that into a few hours.

I liked this a lot - the use of the repeating phrase at the end of each stanza took on a comforting feeling and the regular rhythm of the piece with strong rhyming throughout gave the impression of the beating of horses' hooves.
In addition to this, the story was well told - exposition, rising tension, climax and then the safe return - as also told in your notes.

Hi Steve,
What a great review. I appreciate the detailed analysis of the storytelling and of the form. I'm delighted that you got the sense of beating horses' hooves. My horse and I had a great time that day, but also a bit of worry.
Thank you,
Debi

A very rhythmic and beautiful piece of poetry. Your meter and rhymes were perfect, and as I read I saw the galloping of a horse and rider in my mind's eye. I also appreciated your notes about the event.

Wow! Thank you for sharing this great story about your horse and you sharing that time together. I don't know what form it is that repeats the last four syllables in each stanza - almost a kyrielle. Yes, God was watching out for you and your horse! So glad you got back right on time. Loved your observations of plants and sky as you rode and the repetition shows the great connection you and your horse have.

Hi Helen,
Thank you for the kind comments about the writing and the story. I didn't try for any specific form, it just sort of came out this way.
I do feel that God was watching out for me that day. The timing of the rain was as if someone held the rain back until I took that one step into the stable and then let it loose.

You produced a beautiful poem of what started out as a wondrous ride and ended up with the tense fear of inclement weather. Your distinct descriptions took us along for the ride with you as did the imagery you created. Very nicely done.
