I was intrigued by the idea that instead of fetching just water from a river, someone is fetching "lives." Water is indeed a scarce resource in many parts of the world. So that part has a basis in reality. I guess I would add a comma after "return home" in the last sentence.

Daniel asks a lot of questions. But the wisdom of the father is profound, that God reaveals and teaches lessons on his schedule not ours. And we need to embrace the lessons as they come.

Your spiritual offerings never disappoint. It's funny how people pray to GOD for something and if they don't get it, they start to question GOD. They act as if GOD is a magic genie to grant their wishes. Like you stated GOD does things is way in his time not ours. Reminds me of something I use to hear all the time as a child in reference to GOD:
he may not come when you call him but he's always on time
