I think the forced rhyme kind of mimicks Wayne's on-screen acting. He had a halting way, punctuated way of talking. You did a great job with this and I feel I learned a lot about him. I wish you luck in the contest. We all win if we listen to our muse and write what we feel the urge to write!
Blessings,
Tina

Old John is still around late at night...I finally watched Rooster Cogburn after seeing the Bridges remake, and still can't decide which I liked best...entertaining rhyming poem...

Thank you very much. The Bridges remake doesn't hold a candle to the original in my opinion. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review my work.

Hello Writer,
I think your rhymes are very good and creative, too.
There was no one in Western movies quite like the Duke.
Of course, he couldn't use his real name, Marion,
any cowboy named Marion would be laughed off the screen.
You managed to get many of his movie titles smoothly into the poem.
I like some of his non-western movies, too, like The Wake of the Red Witch.
Well done
Good luck in the contest

Nope and they just don't make actors like the Duke any longer. It's sad. Who? can you think of who was so wildly popular and also so very talented. Course he was cast in mostly western roles. but many were very good.
yes, he left before his time I thin.
The meters were a bit off - but you did a good job weaving in all the titles.
Good poem.

I always loved the Duke. I enjoyed reading your poem. He had moral values that seem hard to find today. No edits or adjustments necessary.

A very well-written western poem and a great role model that many boys of my childhood copied and pretend in play they are the big man in the movies called John Wayne.

This really well-written tribute to the Duke makes excellent use of
movie titles and other specifics that follow his career. This is very
informative.

This is a dandy biopic of John Wayne, Hollywood's greatest western star. I truly enjoyed your summary of his most classic roles. Good luck in the contest. Rod

I have never enjoyed westerns, but I like your biography of John Wayne in poem form.
It's informative and well written, in my opinion. I'm not a poet either...
Good luck in the contest.
