Oh, I'm so sorry that Dinky's gone but definitely not gone from your and Anna's hearts. Our pets remain in our memories forever. Your description of the walks and cleanup is why we don't have a dog. Cats take care of their own business. Lol.

Unfortunately we lost our cat of 15 years, Moe, last week. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review my work.

I am a believer in the dogs and cats, so I am touched by Dink's fate. I think this poem will fly well in the rhyming poem contest, but my contest history is abysmal...

Thank you for sharing about your precious dog, Earl. I am sorry for your loss. You were his best friend. Good job with the rhyming. Best wishes. Jan

What a delightful rhyming poem to honor your beloved Dinky! I am so saddened to hear he had a stroke - yet honor your courageous decision to end his suffering. And then succumb to your own.

Now, about the poem. I love the straightforward conversation with Dinky, as if it is just another day, reminding him to hurry, that it is cold, that it is warm inside. That the peeing and the pooping are finished, and it's time to go. It all seems so normal, natural. So routine for Dinky. Until the reader understands that "C'mon Dinky let's go" means more than the usual frustration heard in "C'mon Dinky, It't time to go!!!"

Nicely done - a full range of emotion in a few lean lines. I hope the contest is good to you!

Judy

Thanks Judy. The contest wasn't as important as getting my feelings out about Dink. We just lost our cat Moe, last week. We had him for 15 years. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review my work.

Oh dear. So sorry about Moe too! I had to have our Paddie put down last summer. Still not over it. Getting your feeling out and down on paper is so often healing. Glad you wrote it. Judy

So sad to read this. I so dread the day when , or if Keisha (my cat) should suffer such fate. Even without suffering, cant imagine not having her.

Big hug to that super dog, really felt emotional when reading.
May she travel light.
My best wishes.

Thank you . We had to have our cat of 15 years, Moe, put to sleep last week, that's why this hurt so much. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review my work.

Oh my. How we love our dogs. They are so loyal. Mine stayed at my feet while I had the flu. Yes, many nights, I have let him out to do his business while freezing my bum off. I loved this!

I already love Dinky. His loyalty and devotion. You've written a nice poem with a comfortable flow and good rhymimg. I enjoyed it. No other edits or adjustments needed.

Loved you poem, one which I do value as I have been there. Chloe, was my Dinky. A Brittany spaniel, she had my heart wrapped around her paws. I miss her to this day...

God bless, John

I'm sorry about your dog Earl. They always have a special place in our hearts. We have a couple of dogs in that age group. I am dreading the day... God Bless you in your sorrow. Nancy:)

What a wonderful 'Ode to Dinky'. It was a great tribute to a dear, well loved four legged friend. Good luck Earl in the contest. It is indeed hard to say good bye to a dear one, but you are right he will not suffer anymore.

Oh my goodness, first Moe then Dinky, that is indeed a double loss. You are so welcome.
