A very well-written 5-7-5 poem. You must have done something to upset the wife when she prefers to only make herself a cup of tea. My late husband was the tea maker and he always made two cups of tea. Lol.

All is well now as I sit here drinking tea freshky poured by my wife. :)

You and your husband must have enjoyed very many happy cups of tea together. Thanks for sharing.

Dear Mr. Lord in a Jam Jar,
I really loved this and almost spit my water out in laughter. A very witty 5-7-5. I do appreciate these immensely! I'm sorry that you can hear your wife only making tea for herself! Cheers, Fonda

I think Cat would love your improvise. It is very moving, this verse. Your picture is gorgeous. I collect such things and find them entrancing. I also find your work very pleasant. This is a wonderful gem.

Thanks Miss Sherry I am grateful for your kind words. I would hate to ever think that I upset Cat.
I am glad you like the picture. Sadly you don't see too many people using cups and saucers today. It really makes a good cup if tea taste great.

    You are too kind.

    All the best

Assumin' you're not a spook and the wife's brewing-that woman must be ticked off.
Looks like a fine five seven five poem to me. Only Cat Stevens I recall is Morning Has Broken...

Never mind Cat Stevens, this is Zen poetry at its finest, it plays games with the imagination. Are you sure you're not part Japanese? Haha! Great poetry.
Best regards, Peter

This is such a poignant poem. It made me feel sad. Very well chosen artwork. Do people still use cups and saucers?. I wish you lots of luck in the competitions. Best wishes. Jen.

Thanks Jen, I appreciate your lovely comments.

Not too many use saucers these days, sadly. Myself included. Bad habits catch on.

When I was young growing up on England you wouldn't dream ha ding someone a cup if tea without a saucer. Just wasn't cricket. LOL

    Thanks again.

    All the best.

In very few words, this conjures up several possibilities: the loneliness that can come even while being a 'couple', or a bereaved husband imagining his wife's presence as he makes a cuppa for himself. (There is a spoon involved, probably stirring sugar in... maybe she died of diabetes from too much sugar.) It is good when the reader has to do some of the work. And I loved your revisit of Cat Stevens' Moon Shadow. Clever stuff.

Thank you Lisa. I am so glad that this little poem evokes so many possibilities in your mind. It makes me feel great that I actually made it work.

I love Cat. I wasn't thinking of him at all when I came up with the tjtke and posted it. But I revisited later and added the notes when his voice entered my head. :)

    Thanks again Lisa

A very good 5-7-5 poem entry indeed. Though short the message is conveyed clearly. Thank you for another poem in the author notes too. Good luck in the contest.

HELLO LORDINAJAMJAR: I didn't know whether to laugh or not, when I read your posting here. But I did know that I should say this: "When she, "DOES," bring that one cup of tea, and give it to you... tell her to drink the first half. Then humbly give her...a generous gratuity. Then invite her to sit on your lap...and drink all of it. Judging by your picture...and the smile on your face, my brother, I've imagined that you're already wise to that. God bless you and yours. Cordially: rhonnie69.
