The road to growth in the grace of Christ. That poem relates because doubt has been a frequent intruder on my path. I like the title as faith does extinguish fear. I find that the second half needs more clarity, perhaps some words can be changed.

I like the way you have developed our relationship to faith during the course of our life - the blind faith of the very small that gradually leads to questioning and then perhaps abandonment as we feel the invulnerability of youth - and then a return to faith, as we become more aware of our mortality.

Well done Earl, I've read your prose work, I didn't realise you didn't come to the "dark side" before. Beautifully written, I dwelt in the world until I was 41, until God confronted me with His wonderful presence. Nicely testified and couplet rhymed. Thank you for sharing well done, good luck, Blessings Roy

I think its a story many can relate to. We so often turn to God in those moments of adversity, realize how much we need him. When things are good, when we are young, we don't need him. Or so we think. The poetry could use a little tightening up. You have a couplet rhyme scheme here, the meter is a bit messy in a couple of spots, and overall I think it could benefit from some more vibrant imagery, some good metaphors. Actually I think it might make a sonnet, if you put it into that format. It needs some more structure in my opinion. estory

There is no question in my mind about the topic, but then there are worm castles and the dirty deeds that caused them, and unresolved issues that require addressing by the perpetrator. Hmm?
I hope you get a pass on all that, Earl.

Thanks for sharing this faith-based poem.
I particularly liked
:
After a health scare,
At my mortality I did stare,
Faith definitely helps overcome fear.

I liked this very much and understand the connotation of your writing. It sometimes takes a health scare to get back to your faith or religion. I am a Hospice Nurse and I have seen people with faith have a more peaceful end then ones that don't. This was an easy flowing read. Very well done. I hope you win. Keep writing.

Isn't that the way it is for us all? We're young and sweet and good, we KNOW there's no where to go but up. Then we hit those years where we start pushing buttons, as they say, and maybe start edging toward that line. Then we knock on the door, push the envelope, some step over the line, some boldly go where no man has gone before... probably for good reason! Then we get older and see death looking closer and wonder what the heck we were ever thinking of! And so it goes. Nicely said.

What a sweet wife, dare I say faithful and true. You know that's how God wants us to be
Faith not fear....hold that close.
1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
2 For by it the people of old received their commendation.
3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. - Hebrews 11:1-3
God bless
